Özet
Bu çalışma Cumhuriyet’in 100. yılında Türkiye’de iletişim eğitiminin genel bir fotoğrafını sunmayı
amaçlamaktadır. Dünyada iletişim eğitimi kitle iletişim araçlarının gelişim seyrine uygun olarak
gazetecilik eğitimi ile başlamıştır. Benzer durum ülkemiz için de geçerlidir. Bu nedenle makalede
öncelikle Türkiye’de gazetecilik eğitiminin tarihsel seyrine yer verilmiştir. Buna göre Türkiye’de
gazetecilik eğitimi konusu ilk kez Ahmet Rasim tarafından gündeme getirilmiş, ilk gazetecilik okulu olan
İstanbul Özel Gazetecilik Okulu ise Fehmi Yahya Tuna tarafından 1948 yılında İstanbul’da açılmıştır.
Çalışmanın araştırma bölümünde ise YÖK Atlas verileri temel alınarak günümüz Türkiye’sindeki iletişim
eğitiminin genel görünümü ortaya konulmuştur. YÖK Atlas’tan elde edilen veriler niceliksel araştırma
yöntemiyle incelenmiş, bu kapsamda Türkiye’deki iletişim fakültelerinde bulunan lisans programları
belirlenmiştir. Sonrasında ise devlet ve vakıf üniversitelerindeki iletişim eğitiminin hangi programlarda
sunulduğu karşılaştırmalı olarak incelenmiştir. Bu karşılaştırmada devlet üniversitelerinde Gazetecilik,
Radyo Televizyon ve Sinema gibi geleneksel iletişim eğitimi programlarının bariz biçimde yaygın olduğu
gözlemlenirken; vakıf üniversitelerinde geleneksel iletişim eğitimi programlarının yanı sıra Dijital Oyun
Tasarımı, Reklam Tasarımı ve İletişimi gibi günümüzün değişen şartlarına uygun programlara da yer
verildiği görülmüştür. Bu durum vakıf üniversitesi bünyesinde bulunan iletişim fakültelerinin iletişim
teknolojilerindeki gelişmeleri ve sektör beklentilerini daha yakından izlediğini göstermesi bakımından
dikkat çekici bir sonuçtur. Devlet üniversiteleri ile vakıf üniversiteleri arasındaki bariz bir farklılık da
akademisyen sayısı ile bu akademisyenlerin programlara dağılımında ortaya çıkmaktadır.
This study aims to present a general picture of communication education in Türkiye in the 100th Anniversary of the Republic. Communication education in the world started with journalism education in accordance with the development course of mass media. The same situation is valid for our country as well. For this reason, the historical course of journalism education in Türkiye is given in the article first. Accordingly, the issue of journalism education in Türkiye was first brought to the agenda by Ahmet Rasim, and the first journalism school, Istanbul Private Journalism School, was opened in Istanbul in 1948 by Fehmi Yahya Tuna.In the research part of the study, the general view of communication education in today’s Türkiye is revealed based on the YÖK Atlas data. The data obtained from YÖK Atlas were analyzed with the quantitative research method, and in this context, undergraduate programs in communication faculties in Türkiye were determined. Afterwards, the programs in which communication education is offered in state and foundation universities were examined comparatively. In this comparison, it is observed that traditional communication education programs such as Journalism, Radio, Television and Cinema are clearly common in state universities; It has been observed that foundation universities, in addition to traditional communication education programs, also include programs suitable for today's changing conditions such as Digital Game Design, Advertising Design and Communication. This is a remarkable result as it shows that the communication faculties within the foundation university follow the developments in communication technologies and sector expectations more closely. Another obvious difference between state universities and foundation universities is the number of academics and their distribution among programs.
