The Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has spread worldwide since its first recorded case in the city of Wuhan, China in December 2019. The outbreak was declared a pandemic on 11 March 2020 The disease is transmitted via respiratory droplets generated directly from infected individuals or asymptomatic carriers. The most well-known clinical symptoms laboratory findings are fever, normal or reduced leukocyte counts, nonproductive cough, pneumonia, diarrhea, and dyspnea, but the leading cause of death in patients is acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) triggered by cytokine storm. The typical findings of chest CT images for individuals with COVID-19 are multifocal bilateral patchy ground-glass opacities or consolidation the peripheral areas of the lungs. RTPCR assays for SARS-CoV-2 RNA detection in clinical specimens are widely used in COVID-19 diagnostic laboratories. The lack of effective treatments has contributed toward the increase in the number of cases, with hospitalizations and palliative therapies. In the present study, we provide a brief review of he pathogenesis, clinical symptoms and laboratory findings , diagnostic approaches and treatment algoritms and prevent emerging COVID-19.
