Özet
In this study, an efficient glutamic acid-based cyclic (Glu-Glu) phase-selective organogelator diketopiperazine has been synthesized by a one-step reaction between L-glutamic acid and long-chain amines in a regioselective manner with high yields of up to 90%. Within 15 min, DKP organogelators gelled in a wide range of oils with a minimum gelation concentration ranging from 0.5 to 1.8% w/v. Among these amphiphilic gelators, dioctyl diketopiperazine dione (O-DKP) especially demonstrated the formation capability of a self-assembled fibrillar network with diesel, dodecane and sunflower oil, at MGCs of 0.5, 1.0 and 1.2% w/v or less, in the presence of water/fuel mixtures. The O-DKP-diesel gel which was formed by the water-diesel mixture was easily separated from the water, and then the O-DKP gelator was recovered by its easy extraction with petroleum benzine. The extracted O-DKP gelator was shown to be reusable for fuel remediation. The large scale of phase-selective oil spill recovery was also accomplished with a large volume of solvents.
