Öğe ANALYSIS OF USABILITY OF WEB SITES IN HOSPITALS IN DIYARBAKIR, TURKEY(Int Organization Center Acad Research, 2016) Gumus, Rojan; Kisa, AdnanThe aim of this study is to determine online services, which has been rendered by public and private health institutions in Diyarbakir, Turkey. As this study was implemented only in center and districts of Diyarbakir, all health institutions were included. Web sites of these institutions were searched between 01.01.2016-01.04.2016 and data were compiled. Among 38 institutions, 21 (56%) of them were public and 17 (44%) of them were private. 27(72%) of health institutions were general hospitals and 11(28%) of them were medical specialty centers. These web sites were investigated according to four dimensions such as, institution information, facilitating online services, relations with community, shareholders and target groups and social media integration by 23 measures. As a result, we have seen that, public health institutions are more efficient in utilization of online services. Nearly all measures were performed in these institutions. On the other hand, in private institutions there is a lack of information and service. A big absence of public institutions is providing service only in Turkish. It is seen that private health institutions, which are members of big trademarks, are more efficient. Local health institutions in Diyarbakir don't have web pages or have insufficient online services. We can say that, public health institutions and university hospitals are more successful in providing online services in Turkey. Staff and location changes often prevent continuity of web pages of private health institutions. So it is imperative to update these web pages by professionals continually. As e-commerce is very important for every branch of business and internet is very widespread among all individuals, it is compulsory for health institutions to develop their online services.Öğe The impact of free time management skills and socio-demographic factors on internet addiction among university students(Reial Acad Medicina Illes Balears, 2024) Toz, Zeynep Yagmur; Gumus, RojanObjective: The present study aimed to examine the impact of free time management skills and socio demographic characteristics on the levels of Intemot addiction among university students. Methods: A total of 1241 students from all departments of a state university completed online surveys, which comprised three sections: a personal information form, the Young's Internet Addiction test short form (MAI-SF), and the Free Time Management Scale. This cross sectional study employed a proportional quota sampling method. Results: The study's results revealed a strong significant negative relationship between Internet addiction scores and the free time management skills of the students (3--0.415, p < 0.001 ) Another significant finding suggested that Internet addiction level is higher among studentsbelonging ; to younger groups F = 3.324 , p < 0b ), those living far away from their families (F-4,105, p<0.01), and those coming from lower income groups (F-5.177, p < 0.01 ) . However, IA scores did not differ between sex groups. Considering the free time management skills of the students, variables such as older age F = 11.553 p<0,001), higher income F = 3.54 , p<0.05), and being educated in social sciences (F-4.266, p<0.05) were determinants of free time management. However, sex, family type, and place of residence did not impact their mean scores of free time management. Additionally spending time on physical and social activities decreased the Internet addiction levels of the students F = 3.2/6 p < 0.06 ). Conclusion : Encouraging students to participate in physical, social, outdoor, cultural, group, or hobby oriented activities can contribute to young people's social adaptation and help reduce Internet addiction.Öğe Occupational health and safety indicators of Turkey and their relationships with social and economic development factors between 1998 and 2014(Routledge Journals, Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2020) Gumus, Rojan; Gulsun, ZulkufThe aim of this descriptive study is to analyse occupational health and safety status of Turkey between 1998 and 2014 and examine its relationships with some socioeconomic factors. Data reported by Social Security Institution of Turkey and two types of incidence rates of occupational accidents determined by the institution were used in analysis; the first uses working hours, while the latter uses the number of employees as basis. A third type of incidence rate involving occupational deaths per 100,000 employees was used in comparing Turkey and EU, and it was found significantly higher from developed countries like EU-15 (t = -10.032, P < 0.001). Incidence of occupational accidents and indicators, such as human development index (HDI), GDP, literacy rate, and budget spending for education in Turkey between 1998 and 2014, were correlated with each other, and a significant negative relationship was found between fatal occupational accidents and literacy rate (r = -0.577, P < 0.05). Furthermore, a negative significant relationship between growth rate (GDP) and HDI (r = -0.813, P < 0.01) was observed. A positive relationship between GDP and incidence of fatal accidents was found, but it was insignificant (r = 0.502, P > 0.05). Economically growing populations can protect their workers against occupational hazards by taking effective and preventive measures for occupational health and safety.Öğe Quality of online communication tools at hospitals and their effects on health service consumers' preferences(Routledge Journals, Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2020) Gumus, Rojan; Sonmez, YasinThe purpose of this study is to determine the quality of online services at hospitals and their effects on consumers' preferences. In the first stage, a survey was administered to 442 individuals living in stanbul, Turkey. In the second stage, based on 442 health consumers' priorities regarding online health services at hospitals, a checklist, including four dimensions (i.e. Ease of Use, Credentials of the Institution, External Activities and Technical Features) and 39 items was created. The findings indicated that, among the top 100 private hospitals in stanbul, 25% received an excellent rating, while 45% and 35% were ranked as good and fair, respectively. In addition, the frequency of Internet usage was positively correlated with education (r=0.121, p<0.05), while the participants that visited the hospitals' webpages were more affected by their organization (r=0.100, p<0.05) and design (r=0.278, p<0.01). Furthermore, a positive correlation was found between the users' hospital ratings and the evaluated scores of the hospitals (r=0.467, p<0.01). The implication of these findings is that online services offered by hospitals can have a significant influence on health consumers' hospital preferences.Öğe Research into the relationship between digital health literacy and healthy lifestyle behaviors: an intergenerational comparison(Frontiers Media Sa, 2023) Cetin, Murat; Gumus, RojanIntroductionDigital health literacy wields a pivotal role in individuals' health status in terms of seeking and choosing appropriate and accurate information, and useful services from a vast array of choices. This study is aimed at assessing the validity and reliability of the Turkish version of Digital Health Literacy Instrument (DHLI) and examining the relationship between DHL and the healthy lifestyle behaviors of participants from X, Y, and Z generations.MethodsIn this study, to conduct a cross-sectional web-based survey, an online self-report questionnaire was built, and a convenience sample with a snowball approach was used. The study was conducted among 1,274 respondents aged between 18 and 64 years. Data collection tools consisted of the Personal Information Form, Lifestyle Behavior Scale II (HLBS II), and DHLI. Cultural validation and psychometric testing of DHLI, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, Cronbach's alpha test, and bivariate and multivariate regression analysis were used for statistical analysis.ResultsIn the study, the Turkish version of the DHLI tool consisting of six dimensions proved to be valid and reliable, and deemed appropriate for use across all age groups. The average digital health literacy of the respondents was sufficient, but the mean of healthy lifestyle behavior scores was moderate. There was a positive significant relationship between the total mean scores of DHLI and HLBS. Among the subdimensions of DHLI, while the highest mean scores were in DHLI Reliability, DHLI Privacy, and DHLI Search, DHLI Navigation and DHLI Relevance showed the lowest mean scores. DHLI Reliability, DHLI Relevance, and DHLI Adding Content were statistically significant predictors of health-related behaviors of the respondents.ConclusionThe most important feature and novelty of this study is that, although the DHLI scale has been widely translated for use in many countries, it has been translated and adapted to Turkish for the first time herein. The study offers crucial evidence about Generation X, Y, and Z's DHL level and its positive relationships with health-related behaviors. Therefore, the community and its partners should lead the way in empowering individuals to understand and use online information in an effective, secure, and health-promoting manner, along with governments.Öğe Role of Marketing Mix Perception and Participation on Repurchase Intention of Health Consumers(Sage Publications India Pvt Ltd, 2022) Gumus, RojanThe aim of this study is to examine the effect of product, price, promotion and place perception and participation of health care consumers on brand trust, brand loyalty and repurchase intention. The sample of the study consisted of 681 healthcare consumers living in Diyarbakir, Turkey. A hypothesized model was drawn from previous literature and a questionnaire with 41 items was developed. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modelling were conducted to the model. According to the findings of the study while consumers mostly consider price strategies and quality of goods and services; place of hospital is not a major concern of themselves. Brand trust enhances brand loyalty and those two creates repurchase intention. Women and more educated groups are likely to consider products and promotion activities more. High income groups are affected by place of services. Women and users of private hospitals are more loyal, trust more and have repurchase intention. Additionally, promotion activities and participation of respondents were the most important factors to create brand trust and brand loyalty for healthcare institutions. Thus, hospitals can create their own brand values and enhance their success by the help of successful marketing strategies and satisfaction of customer and employee.
