Dictionaries not only include words which represent the existence of nations throughout the history but also they protect words and inform readers about words' meanings. Moreover, they also help improvement of word treasury and richness of the meaning. Attitudes have unique importance in stability of behaviors. Thus, attitudes of high school students towards dictionaries have important affect on their attitudes of their use of dictionaries in both positive and negative ways. Positive attitudes towards use of dictionaries enable students to benefit from it whereas negative attitudes towards the use of dictionaries will not enable students to benefit from it. This study investigated whether attitudes of students of 9th, 10th, and 11th grades towards use of dictionaries with several variables changed or not. The population of this study involves all high school students in the center of Diyarbakir province. Data were collected through Attitude Scale towards Dictionaries which was developed by Yaman and Dagdas (2013) and personal information sheet that were developed by the same researchers. Data was analyzed with SPSS 21.0. t-test and ANOVA were used to test relationship between /among variables. Results showed that the attitudes of students towards dictionary use were high. Moreover, relationship among attitudes of dictionary use with gender, mothers' education level, fathers' educational level, family monthly income and mother tongue were not significantly different whereas grades were significantly different.en_US
