Adaptation of the revised environmental ıdentity scale into Turkish: A validity and reliability study on teacher candidates

dc.description.abstractIn this research, it was aimed to adapt the Revised Environmental Identity Scale (REIS) developed by Clayton et al. (2021) into Turkish. The research was carried out with the participation of 400 teacher candidates. Within the scope of validity studies, exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) were applied and double consistency index was calculated. As a result of the AFA, since the factor loading of the item 5 was low, this item was excluded from the scale and analysis was redone. In the reapplied AFA, a unidimensional structure was reached in which the remaining 13 items in the scale had sufficient factor loadings, and the explained variance was determined as 38.40%. The CFA results revealed that the fit indices of unidimensional structure with 13 items remained within acceptable limits. The double consistency index, which is a measure of classification-ranking validity, was established as .73. Reliability analysis results showed that the Cronbach’s alpha internal consistency coefficient was .88. In the item analysis, it was found that the item correlations varied between .44 and .73. Ferguson Delta statistic, which is a measure of discrimination for the entire scale was detected as .98. These results provide evidence that the measurements obtained with the Turkish version of the REIS have adequate psychometric properties.
dc.description.abstractBu araştırmada, Clayton vd. (2021) tarafından geliştirilen Revize Edilmiş Çevresel Kimlik Ölçeği’nin (RÇKÖ) Türkçeye uyarlanması amaçlanmıştır. Araştırma 400 öğretmen adayının katılımıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Geçerlik çalışmaları kapsamında açımlayıcı faktör analizi (AFA) ile doğrulayıcı faktör analizi (DFA) uygulanmış ve çift tutarlık indeksi hesaplanmıştır. AFA’da ölçeğin 5. maddesine ait faktör yükü düşük olduğundan bu madde ölçekten çıkarılmış, tekrarlanan analizde ölçekte kalan 13 maddenin yeterli faktör yüküne sahip olduğu tek boyutlu bir yapıya ulaşılmış ve açıklanan varyans %38.40 olarak belirlenmiştir. DFA sonuçları, 13 madde ve tek boyutlu yapıya ilişkin uyum indekslerinin önerilen sınırlar içerisinde kaldığını göstermiştir. Sınıflama-sıralama geçerliği ölçüsü olan çift tutarlık indeksi .73 olarak tespit edilmiştir. Güvenirlik analizi için Cronbach alfa katsayısı hesaplanmış ve .88 olarak kestirilmiştir. Madde analizinde madde korelasyonlarının .44 ile .73 arasında değiştiği saptanmıştır. Ölçeğin geneline ilişkin ayırt edicilik değeri olan Ferguson Delta istatistiği ise .98 bulunmuştur. Bu sonuçlar RÇKÖ’nün Türkçe formuyla toplanan ölçümlerin yeterli psikometrik özelliklere sahip olduğuna kanıt sunmaktadır.
