The environmental problems getting more chronic every day direct academics to design buildings considering the influence of nature. One of the most important methods of sustainable building design is biomimicry. The aim of this article is to examine the studies on the use of biomimicry in architecture, to raise awareness about sustainable building design and to create a guide for future researchers. It has been determined that most of the studies examined are in search of solutions for sustainable building design by examining nature. Studies on biomimicry, especially in architectural education, try to raise awareness to understand its importance in terms of sustainability by including this subject in architectural education instead of examining nature. The combination of simulation technique and field research technique is the most preferred method for the use of biomimicry in sustainable building design. It is thought that this study will be a guide on how to reveal the mysteries of nature for sustainable building design and the criteria that should be emphasized in order to reveal these mysteries. In addition, it is thought that it will create awareness about the use of biomimicry in architecture in sustainable building design.en_US
