dc.description.abstractAmaç: Bu çalışmada 1. ve 6. sınıf öğrencileri arasında sigara ve alkol kullanma oranlarını belirlemeyi ve bu konuda bu iki sınıfın tutum ve davranışları arasındaki farklılıkları araştırmayı amaçladık. Yöntem: Çalışma Dicle Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi'nde yapıldı. Çoğunluğu erkek olmak üzere her bir sınıftan 63'er kişi değerlendirmeye alındı. Veri toplama araçları olarak Genel Bilgi Anketi ve Hastane Anksiyete Depresyon Ölçeği kullanıldı. Bulgular: Birinci sınıflarda sigara içme oranı %35, 6. sınıflarda %56'dır. Günlük 10 taneden çok sigara içme oranı 1. ve 6. sınıflarda sırasıyla %17 ve %35'tir. Yaşam boyu alkol kullanma oranı 1. ve 6. sınıflarda sırasıyla %19 ve %57'dir. CAGE Testi'ne göre sorunlu içme oranı 1. ve 6. sınıflarda sırasıyla %5 ve %17'dir. Birinci sınıflarda alkol kullanmama nedeni olarak sağlığı öne sürenlerin sayısı 6. sınıflardan daha yüksektir (p=0.002). Her iki sınıfta da, sigara veya alkol kullananlarla kullanmayanların anksiyete ve depresyon puanları arasında önemli fark saptanmadı (p>0.05). Tartışma: Hekim olmaya aday tıp fakültesi öğrencilerinde sigara ve alkol kullanım oranları batı ülkelerindeki kadar olmasa bile, yine de yüksek düzeylerdedir. Yakın gelecekte sağlık hizmeti sunacak olan ve halka önerilerde bulunacak olan tıp fakültesi öğrencilerinde, bu maddelerin kullanımının daha da azaltılması için yeni yöntemlere gereksinim olduğu görülmektedir.en_US
dc.description.abstractObjective: In this study, we aimed to fix the rate of smoking and alcohol use between the 1st and 6th classes and to investigate the differences between their attitudes and behaviors on these matters. Methods: The study was done at Dicle University Medicine Faculty. Sixty-three students, males predominantly, were included from each class. As a tool for the collection of the data; General Information Questionnaire and Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale has been used. Results: Rate of smoking students was 35% in the first and 56% in the sixth class. Rate of students smoking more than 10 cigarettes per day was 17% and 35%, in the 1st and 6th classes, respectively. Rate of lifetime alcohol use was 19% and 57% in the 1st and 6th classes, respectively. According to CAGE test, rates of problematic alcohol use were 5% and 17% in the 1st and 6th classes, respectively. Number of students who declared health reasons for not using alcohol were higher in the 1st class than the 6th (p=0.002). In each class, anxiety and depression scores were not significantly differ-ent between smokers and nonsmokers or drinkers and nondrinkers (p>0.05). Conclusion: Rates of smoking and alcohol use were found to be high among medical students as candidates of medical doctors, but not as high as in western students. It is necessary to supply methods for decreasing more the rates of the consumption of those two substances, particularly among medical students who will be a health worker and advisor to the population in the near future.en_US
