dc.description.abstractAmaç: Magnezyum (Mg), karaciğer hasarının gelişiminde etkili olan oksidatif stres ve redoks potansiyellerinde önemli rolü olan bir eser elementtir. Bu çalışmada, hipomagnezemi ile kronik hepatit B hastalarında görülen spesifik olmayan klinik bulguların benzer olması nedeniyle, bu hastalarda serum total Mg düzeyinin irdelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Yöntem: Bu çalışma Dicle Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi ve Midyat Devlet Hastanesi, Enfeksiyon Hastalıkları polikliniklerinde, Nisan 2007-Ağustos 2008 tarihleri arasında takip edilen kronik aktif hepatit B hastaları (n=32), asemptomatik HBs Ag taşıyıcıları (n=37) ve 35 sağlıklı kişiden oluşan kontrol grubuyla yapılmıştır. Bulgular: Çalışmaya alınan üç grup arasında serum albümin ve total Mg düzeyleri açısından istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark bulunamamıştır (p=0,06 ve p=0,22). Sonuç: Kronik aktif hepatit B olgularında ve asemptomatik HBs Ag taşıyıcılarında serum total Mg seviyesi normal referans aralığında tespit edilmiştir.en_US
dc.description.abstractObjective: Magnesium (Mg) is a trace element plays an important role in oxidative stress and redox potentials which were effective in the emergence of liver damage. The aim of this study was to evaluate serum total Mg level in chronic hepatitis B patients because the clinical findings of chronic hepatitis B and hypomagnesemia are similar. Methods: This study was carried out in 32 patients with chronic hepatitis B and asymptomatic HBs Ag carrier (n=37) who were followed at the Departments of Infectious Diseases of Dicle University Medical School and Midyat State Hospital, between April 2007 and August 2008, and in 35 healthy controls. Results: We were not detected significant differences between three groups, included to the study, in serum albumin and total magnesium levels (p=0.06 and p=0.22). Conclusion: In conclusion, the serum total magnesium level was determined within normal limits in chronic hepatitis B patients and asymptomatic HBs Ag carrier.en_US
