Öğe The Effects of the Performance Evaluation System Applied to Healthcare Professionals on Employee Motivation(Eskisehir Osmangazi Univ, Fac Education, 2022) Cagatay, Altug; Kizilkaya, SelmanThis study aims to reveal the effect of the performance appraisal system applied to healthcare professionals on motivation. Questionnaire method, one of the data collection techniques, was used in the study. Questionnaires were applied to a total of 954 health employees with convenience sampling method. In the study, the screening model, which reveals the effect of the performance appraisal system on motivation, was preferred. The reliability of the measurement tool; Performance Evaluation is 0.95 and Job Motivation is 0.90. In the study, it was determined that there is a positive and significant relationship between performance appraisal and intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. It has been determined that performance appraisal has a positive and significant effect on the general motivation level. It has been concluded that the performance evaluation system applied to health workers during the Covid-19 pandemic process has a positive effect on motivation.Öğe The mediating role of physician trust in the relationship between medical mistrust and health-care system distrust(Mexican Acad Surgery, 2024) Kizilkaya, SelmanObjective: This study was carried out to determine the mediating role of physician trust in the relationship between medical mistrust and health-care system distrust. Materials and methods: The Health Care Systems Distrust Scale, which consists of 10 questions, the Medical Mistrust Scale, which consists of 17 questions, the Physician Trust Scale, which consists of 11 questions. The statistical analysis was performed using the SPSS 26.0 program. Results: Health-care system distrust was positively correlated with medical mistrust and negatively correlated with physician trust. There was a negative relationship between medical mistrust and physician trust. Physician trust mediates the effect of medical mistrust on health-care system distrust. In other words, it was determined that the mediating effect of physician trust was significant. Conclusion: Addition of physician trust to medical mistrust decreases the negative effects of health-care system distrust. Medical mistrust must be addressed at multiple levels of society, including government, policy, and health-care systems.Öğe Mobile health system: A population based study(Reial Acad Medicina Illes Balears, 2023) Kizilkaya, Selman; Cagatay, AltugBackground: In this research, it is aimed to reveal the opinions of university students about mobile health and personal health records and to reveal whether this differs in the context of students' personal characteristics. Methods: In the study, students' views on mobile health and personal health records were discussed in the context of effectiveness, access, benefit, protection, user-friendliness, simplicity and prevalence. In this direction, the face to face survey method, one of the data collection techniques, was used. The questionnaires were applied to Turkish and foreign students studying at Tokat Gaziosmanpasa University. Results: A total of 1654 individuals were included. 35.6% (n=590) of them were foreign students and 64.4% (n=1064) were Turkish students. The average age of all participants is 21.45 years. Turkish participants were a more positive attitude in this difference (Z=-20,375, p<0.05). it has been determined that there is a positive and significant relationship between age in the subdimensions of access and user-friendliness. Conclusions: In the results obtained, it was determined that the students' attitudes towards mobile health and personal health records differed significantly according to their nationality.Öğe The Relationship Between Healthcare System Distrust and Intention to Use Violence Against Health Professionals: The Mediating Role of Health News Perceptions(Wiley, 2025) Kizilkaya, Selman; Bugdali, BusraBackgroundHealth news refers to media coverage that informs the public about health-related issues, policies and healthcare systems, shaping public perception and understanding. While prior research has examined media's impact on public health behaviour, limited studies have focused on how perceptions of health news affect attitudes towards healthcare professionals, especially in the context of violence against them. This study addresses this gap, examining the mediating role perception of health news on the relationship between distrust in healthcare systems and intentions to use violence against healthcare professionals.AimThis research aims to explore how the perception of health news influences the relationship between distrust in healthcare systems and the intention to use violence against healthcare professionals.MethodologyA survey was conducted with 693 participants over the age of 18 who had received healthcare services in the last year. The study utilized an intermediary model to assess the role of perception of health news in the relationship between distrust in the healthcare system and the intention to use violence against healthcare professionals.ResultsThe findings indicate a positive correlation between distrust in healthcare systems and the intention to use violence against healthcare professionals. Additionally, the perception of health news was found to significantly mediate this relationship.ConclusionThe study concludes that negative perceptions of healthcare systems, exacerbated by the portrayal of health news, can escalate the risk of violence against healthcare professionals.Patient or Public ContributionThere was no direct patient or public involvement in the design, conduct, reporting, or dissemination plans of this research. The study primarily relied on data collected through surveys and questionnaires administered to participants. Although the research addresses issues pertinent to the public and healthcare professionals, such as violence against healthcare professionals and the role of media in shaping public perceptions, the public's role was limited to responding to the survey. The findings and implications of this research are intended to benefit the public and healthcare community by informing future strategies and interventions, but the public did not actively contribute to the research process itself.Öğe The role of nurses in violence against healthcare professionals: a population-based study(Reial Acad Medicina Illes Balears, 2023) Kizilkaya, Selman; Cagatay, AltugObjective: This study aimed to evaluate the impact of nurses' counseling abilities on the desire to use violence toward medical workers.Materials and methods: The population of the research consists of individuals over the age of 18 who received health services from any hospital in the last 1 year in Turkey. The sample was randomly selected. The survey method was preferred at the point of data collection. The questionnaires were delivered to the participants face-to-face.Results: A total of 1042 individuals were included in the present study. 63% were female and 37% were male. The average age was recorded as 26.9 years. Of them, 32% were married and 28% had low income. A negative correlation was found between the intention to use violence against healthcare professionals and the counseling skills of nurses (r=-0.118, p<0.01). Counseling skills of the nurses have a negative effect on the intention to inflict violence on healthcare workers (t=-3.832, p<0.01) and a positive effect on the attitude towards the behavior (t=4.228, p<0.01).Conclusions: Social initiatives should be used to reduce violence. There should be the development of intervention strategies for public hospitals and emergency services. Employees should be instructed to let the public know that there might be a wait while the examination is taking place. Violence should be addressed legally, and risk groups exposed to violence should be given priority in intervention strategies.Öğe What happens with the health system: Medical mistrust br(Reial Acad Medicina Illes Balears, 2023) Kizilkaya, SelmanAim: This research aims to determine the moderator role of gender in the effect of medical mistrust on the intention to use violence against healthcare professionals. The data in the study were obtained by the survey method.Methods: The obtained data were analyzed with the SPSS program and the process macro software added to the SPSS program.Results: The sample of the study consists of 628 people in total. According to the results of the research, a positive and significant relationship was found between medical mistrust and the intention to use violence on healthcare professionals. Gender has been found to have a moderator role in the effect of medical mistrust on the intention to use violence on healthcare professionals. The effect of medical mistrust on the intention to use violence on healthcare professionals was & beta;=2,9054; t=12.8935 in individuals whose physicians were female; while in males & beta;=1.6301; t=12.2957.Conclusion: Accordingly, when the doctor's gender is female, the effect of medical mistrust on the intention to use violence on healthcare professionals becomes more evident
