Öğe The branching pattern of the aortic arch in the long-legged buzzard (Buteo rufinus Cretzschmar 1829)(Springer, 2014) Erdogan, Serkan; Kilinc, MehmetThe aim of this study was to investigate the vascular branching morphology of the aortic arch in the long-legged buzzard. For this purpose, two long-legged buzzards were evaluated in this study. The latex injection method was used to investigate the branching of the aortic arch. Two innominate brachiocephalic trunks branched continually from aortic arch caudoventral to the primary bronchi and ventral to the syrinx. The left subclavian artery gave rise to sternoclavicular, thoracic, axillary and intercostal arteries in this region. On the right side, it was observed that the right subclavian artery gave off thoracic, sternoclavicular and intercostal arteries, and the axillary artery was the branch of thoracic artery differently from the left one. Each carotid artery was continued to the middle of the neck and soon disappeared, becoming covered by the muscles of the anterior part of the neck, and entering the canal formed by the inferior spinous processes of the cervical vertebrae, within which it ran hidden, and in close contact with its fellow of the other lateral side, to near the head. This morphological study in the long-legged buzzard will elucidate the vascular organization for regional blood supply, and provide specific anatomical data.Öğe Comparative Morphometric Study of the Filiform Lingual Papilla in the Middle East Blind Mole Rat (Spalax ehrenbergi, Nehring, 1898) and Wistar Albino Rat(Soc Chilena Anatomia, 2017) Karakoc, Zelal; Ketani, Sennur; Ketani, M. Aydin; Kilinc, MehmetThis study aimed to reveal the morphometric differences between blind mole rats which live under ground and rats which live under laboratory conditions with regard to the length, base width, keratinization thickness and microscopic papilla depth. For this purpose, 7 adult blind mole rats and 7 adult Wistar albino rats were used in the study. All tongues were removed and fixed in 10 % neutral formalin. 4-5 micrometer of sections were obtained from paraffine sections which were obtained with routine histological follow ups and Crossman's modified triple staining was applied. While papilla length was found as 184.73 +/- 26.68 m m, base width 65.46 +/- 16.51 m m, keratinization thickness 11.60 +/- 1.37 m m, microscopic papilla depth 49.89 +/- 8.19 m m in blind rats; these values were found as 177.49 +/- 31.44 m m, 50.08 +/- 7.57 m m, 13.08 +/- 5.32 m m and 89.12 +/- 19.31 m m, respectively in rats. While a statistically significant difference was not detected between lengths (p> 0.05), the difference between papilla width was found significant (p< 0.05). While keratinization was found to be thicker on posterior side compared to anterior side in both species, a difference was not detected between keratinization thickness measurements (p> 0.05). The difference between two species with regard to papilla depth was detected to be significant (p< 0.001). The finding that papilla depth decreases as base width increases and the difference's being statistically significant suggested that living in different environments with different humidity could be effective on morphologic structures of the tongue in blind mole rats and rats.Öğe Cranial duplication (Dicephalus) in a lamb(Tubitak Scientific & Technological Research Council Turkey, 2007) Unver, Ozkan; Kilinc, Mehmet; Ozyurtlu, NihatA case of cranial duplication (Dicephalus) was described in a newborn lamb. The radiographic and macroscopic examination was performed after the cesarean section. The lamb's heads were not completely separated. A complete nasopharynx, oropharynx, laringopharynx, and normal tongue were present in each head. The lamb died shortly after birth.Öğe Dose-dependent effects of propofol on expression ICAM-1 in rabbit aorta endothelial cells(Academic Journals, 2009) Ketani, M. Aydin; Kanay, Berna Ersoez; Ketani, Sennur; Unver, Ozkan; Kilinc, MehmetThe dose-dependent effects of propofol on expression intracellular adhesion molecule (ICAM-1) in rabbit aorta endothelial cells was examined. Twenty adult New Zeland albino rabbits were used in this study. One control and three experimantal groups were designed. In experimantal groups; for group I propofol was not applied, group II 0.5, group III 4.0 and group IV 8.0 mg/kg propofol were applied to rabbits by marginal ear vein. One hour after applying propofol, control and experimantal group rabbits were sacrificed and their aorta were removed. The sections were stained with APAAP immunohistochemical staining for evaluation using a light microscope. This marked ICAM-1 immunoreactivity was maintained in 8.0 mg/kg of propofol applied to rabbits of aorta endothelium, whereas mild stain was observed for other experimantal groups. The present study indicated that there is parallel relationship between endothelial cells ICAM-1 expression and different doses of propofol.Öğe The morphometric development and arterial vascularization of bovine fetal kidneys in the prenatal period(Elsevier Gmbh, 2011) Erdogan, Serkan; Kilinc, MehmetThis study presents a morphometric developmental analysis of bovine kidneys and a demonstration of intrarenal arterial vascularization in the prenatal period. A total of 40 Holstein bovine fetuses constituted the material of the study. The fetuses were divided into three groups, according to the gestational stages they belonged to early, mid- and late stages, such that each group comprised 10 fetuses. Sixty kidneys and their renal arteries were evaluated using morphometric measurements. Furthermore, 10 bovine fetuses were injected with cast solution to demonstrate the intrarenal arteries. Data obtained in the present study were statistically analyzed. Although the right and left kidneys did not significantly differ from each other, significant differences existed between the different gestational stages (P < 0.05). The kidney parameters, including length, width and thickness, were positively correlated with both the right and left kidneys as well as with gestational age. Four types of intrarenal arterial segmentation were demonstrated. Type I was observed in 10 kidneys (50%), type II in four kidneys (20%) as well as type III, and type IV in only two kidneys (10%). In the most frequent arterial segmentation type (type I), the renal artery divided into three segmental arteries, which supplied the cranial polar, medial and caudal polar regions of the kidney, after stemming from the abdominal aorta. Furthermore, cases of double and multiple renal arteries were also observed. (C) 2011 Elsevier GmbH. SavasChoroid plexus found in brain ventricles makes up the blood brain barrier, secrets Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) and also preserves the homeostasis of CSF. With these functions, choroid plexus plays an important role in the growth and development of brain. Choroid plexus from the rat brain ventricles was investigated at ages from 14 days of gestation to 5 days after birth. On the 14th day of embryonic life, the structure of choroid plexus was observed. On the prenatal 18th day, it was found that the structure of choroid plexus was like the structure of choroid plexus seen after birth. The aim of our research is to assess different developmental characteristics choroid plexus with light microscope and to determine its histological structure.
