Öğe Exploring the self-confidence of preservice science and physics teachers towards technological pedagogical content knowledge(Elsevier Science Bv, 2014) Ucar, Murat Berat; Demir, Cihat; Higde, EmrahThe aim of this study is to investigate the self-confidence of science and physics teacher candidates towards technological pedagogical content knowledge. Moreover, it was also examined the relationship among computer use habits of those teacher candidates and their confidence level towards technological pedagogical content knowledge. A total of 150 participants who were 75 preservice science teachers and 75 preservice physics teachers studying at Dicle University were involved to the study as convenient sample. The data collection tool was the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge Confidence Scale, a thirty-one items scale, developed by (Graham, et al., 2009), and translated and adapted into Turkish by (Timur & Tasar, 2011). The participants' confidence was investigated by the four dimensions of the scale which are Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge, Technological Pedagogical Knowledge, Technological Content Knowledge, and Technological Knowledge. The results of the study revealed that technological pedagogical content knowledge self-confidence of preservice science and physics teachers did not significantly differ from each other on the gender and department basis but their computer use frequencies affected the confidence levels of preservice science teachers. Selection and/or peer-review under responsibility of Academic World Education and Research Center.Öğe Views of not assigned teachers about professional future(Elsevier Science Bv, 2014) Demir, Cihat; Higde, Emrah; Ucar, Murat BeratThis study is a qualitative study to determine how not assigned teachers think about their professional future and reveal how their lives are affected by this situation and detect possible solutions in accordance with the opinions of not assigned teachers. The news about suicide of not assigned teachers recently published in the press demonstrate the importance and necessity of this research. This study was carried out with 100 wage teachers serving in private training intuitions and public schools at the center of Diyarbakir province. The data were obtained via unstructured measurement tool which consists of seven questions and developed for this study. To analyze data, Data Reduction, Data Presentation, Result Verification of Miles and Huberman were used. According to some important findings obtained from the research, the majority of the participants find the implementation of KPSS as wrong, their lives are adversely affected by KPSS because they cannot be assigned. The participants expressed that they have negative thoughts about their professional future and also suggested some possible solutions to haw all teachers could be assigned. (C) 2013 The Authors.
