Öğe Coronary angiography and nursing applications(2006) Ekiz S.; Göz F.Anjiography is an invasive diagnostic procedure. This procedure is usually performed with a technique of injecting a contrast agent into the vascular system to outline the heart and blood vessels. When a particular heart chamber or blood vessel is singled out for study, the procedure is known as selective angiography. Angiography makes use of cineangiograms which are series of rapidly changing movies on an intensified fluoroscopic screen that records the passage of the contrast agent through the vascular site(s). This procedure is used most commonly to assess coronary artery patency and to determine if revascularization procedures are necessary. Nurses are key persons for providing the patients' compliance to this procedure. In this article we explained the role of the nurses for anjiographic procedures.Öğe Violent behaviors encountered by clinical nurses(2006) Göz F.; Kizil H.A.Nurses are frequently exposed to violent behaviors of patients and their relatives, doctors and others. Violence affects the nurses' job satisfaction negatively. The aim of this survey of medical and surgical clinical nurses is to examine the frequency of applied violence to them, to determine the self-reported effect of violence on nurses and suggestions for dealing with violence, to search whether any of the incidents were reported and what legal action was taken. This study was carried out in December 2003. The self-administered survey included approximately 20 questions and could be completed in 3 to 5 minutes and all questionnaires were collected in a confidential interview. Hundred and fifty four clinical (medical and surgical) nurses answered the questionnaire. Most of the participants reported exposure to verbal and physical violence during the last year. Hundred and ninety (95.4%) cases were of verbal and only 9 (4.5%) cases of physical nature. Violence was mostly perpetrated from patients' relatives (56.8 %) and patients (17.1%). Surgical clinics nurses reported much (56.2%) violence than medical clinics nurses (43.8%). There were statistical differences between age, working period and experiences on violent behaviors against nurses. All of the nurses reported these violent behaviors but 66.9% of them couldn't solve the problem.Öğe Xerodermapigmentosum and nursing care(2007) Göz F.; Erkan M.; Saldus B.Xeroderma pigmentosum (XP) is a rare hereditary disorder. It is characterized by enzymatic defects in the repair of ultraviolet-induced DNA damage, hypersensitivity of the skin to sunlight, photosensitivity, persistent erythema and hyperpigmentation. Cutaneous damage caused by ultraviolet radiation predisposes to cutaneous malignancies. This disease began at the age of 1 in our 4-year-old male patient. Our patient's clinical findings and prognosis fit the description in the literature. The nursing interventions for this case are explained.
