Öğe A case of solitary angiokeratoma circumscriptum of the tongue.(2007) Yildirim M.; Kilinç N.; Oktay M.F.; Topçu I.Angiokeratoma circumscriptum is an uncommon vascular entity. The lesion is present at birth and usually involves the lower extremities. A 9-year-old girl presented with multiple pink-colored, small-raised lesions in the dorsal part of her tongue, which had been present since birth. There was no history of trauma, cold injury, or similar lesions elsewhere in her body. She complained of pain and rare bleeding from the lesions after eating hard foods. Physical examination showed multiple, grouped, erythematous, shiny papules mostly in the dorsal aspect of the tongue. There were no other lesions in other parts of the oral mucosa. After an incisional biopsy of the lesion, the diagnosis was made as solitary angiokeratoma circumscriptum.Öğe A case with lipoid proteinosis intersected with diabetes mellitus(Turkiye Klinikleri, 2009) Gökalp D.; Tuzcu A.; Bahçeci M.; Yildirim M.; Akdeniz S.; Özekinci S.; Urakçi Z.Lipoid proteinosis (LP) is a rare disorder inherited as an autosomal recessive trait. LP is characterized by deposition of hyaline-like material in the skin, mucous membranes, and other tissues. LP has been mapped to chromosome 1q21, the locus for the extracellular matrix protein 1 (ECM1) gene. In this case report, we aimed to present a case with LP accompanied by diabetes mellitus, and to discuss the possible mechanisms of diabetes in LP. A 16-year-old girl presented to the endocrinology department with hyperglycemia. She reported a history of progressive hoarseness of her voice since she was two years old. Our patient meets the clinical and histopathological criteria for the diagnosis of LP. Her fasting glucose was 310 mg/dl. Plasma insulin and C-peptide levels were 5.1 uU/ml and 1.57 ng/ml,respectively. Hemoglobin A1c was 12.3%. HOMA-IR (Homeostasis Model Assessment-Insulin Resistance) ratio was 3.1 (normal range <3.7). Serum islet cell antibodies, anti-GAD antibodies and anti-insulin antibodies were negative. Diabetes mellitus was diagnosed and insulin treatment was initiated. In conclusion, possible mechanism of diabetes mellitus may be result of the diffuse deposition of amorphous material into the capillary vessels or in pancreas. The other possible mechanism responsible for the association of diabetes mellitus and insulin resistance in LP patients may be sharing a mutation at 1q21 locus. Future studies which aimed screening of insulin resistance and diabetes mellitus in LP patients may be helpful to explain this association.Öğe Comfort and cohesion in outdoor and semi outdoor spaces in sanliurfa traditional architecture, Turkey(International Multidisciplinary Scientific Geoconference, 2018) Yildirim M.This paper examines comfort and cohesion in outdoor and semi out door spaces of historical environment with a hot and dry climate using the example of the traditional streets, courtyards and recesses of Sanliurfa, Turkey. The goal of this research is to investigate the design principles for achieving comfort and social cohesion in the historical environment of Sanliurfa traditional architecture. In Sanliurfa historical settlement, where traditions and customs have an important role in the social structure, has created an own identity by influencing the space structure and the architectural structure surrounding it. Traditional civil architecture, which is formed by culture, climate, geography and topography in the historical process, is one of the rare examples of climate and social cohesion. The goal of the study is to reveal the comfort and social cohesion conditions in the means of outdoor and semi outdoor spaces of Sanliurfa traditional civil architecture. In the study, narrow streets of traditional architecture’s outdoor spaces like streets and the passageways, and the semi outdoor spaces the courtyards and iwans were examined. The research reveals that the design of the traditional, outdoor spaces of Sanliurfa provides a microclimate in the hot and dry summers of the region, and offers a social space for the social relations. © 2018, International Multidisciplinary Scientific Geoconference. DURING CROP DEVELOPMENT STAGES(National Agricultural Research and Development Institute, 2022) Cetin O.; Yildirim M.; Akinci C.; Yarosh A.The effects of maximum temperature, rainfall and growing degree day on grain yield of durum wheat (Triticum durum Desf.) were studied during the period of available years (2005-2017) in the study sites. A polynomial equation was described the relationship between grain yield, maximum temperature and rainfall for four growing stages of winter wheat. The nonlinear relationships were used from time-series variations in temperatures, rainfall and yields. The maximum positive effects of rainfall (R2=0.72*) on grain yield was in the mid-season stage (heading, anthesis and grain filling) of the crop. However, there was a negative effect of temperature more than 30°C on grain yield. The highest negative effects (R2=0.31 through 0.86*) of maximum temperatures were in the crop development stages (vernalization and tillering). The yield might decrease about 2.5% for every 1°C increase in the growth period based on the daily mean temperature of 12.4°C for all the study locations. The critical maximum temperatures on threshold values declining yield and positive effects of rainfall on grain yield varied according to the altitudes and longitudes. © 2022, National Agricultural Research and Development Institute. Thyroglossal duct may persist anywhere along the descent from the tongue to the thyroid. Lingually localized thyroglossal duct cysts are congenital lesions of the pharynx, which are very uncommon and may cause morbidity and mortality if not treated expeditiously. Double thyroglossal cysts and the complete failure of the obliterative process of thyroglossal duct are very rare in the literature. In this article, we describe a case of two cysts derived from the same thyroglossal duct, one in the hyoid region and the other in the tongue base. To our knowledge, this coexistence has not been described previously in the literature.Öğe Drug bioequivalence and its clinical importance(2004) Özdemir N.; Yildirim M.Two medicinal product are bioequivalent if they are pharmaceutically equivalent or pharmaceutical alternatives and if their bioavailabilities after administration in the same molar dose are similiar to such degree that their effects, with respect to both efficasy and safety, will be essentially the same. Generic medicinal products have increases because of that, the problems of bioequivalence have looks at. According to FDA and EMEA, a bioequivalence study may also be part of a new animal drug application (NADA) or supplemental NADA for approval of an alternative dosage form, new route of administration, or a significant manufacturing change which may affect drug bioavailability.Öğe Evaluation of thirteen durum wheat (triticum durum desf.) genotypes suitable for multiple environments using gge biplot analysis(Parlar Scientific Publications, 2019) Kizilgeci F.; Albayrak O.; Yildirim M.The present study was undertaken to identify the best durum wheat genotypes suitable for the South-Eastern Anatolia Region of Turkey with desirable grain yield and quality. In the context, thirteen spring durum wheat genotypes were evaluated in four environmental condition of the target region in consecutive two growing seasons in the year 2013-14 and 2014-15. The stability and superiority of genotypes, and favorable testing environments were described by using ANOVA and GGE biplot analysis (genotype, genotype x environment). Genotype, environment and GEI (genotype x envi-ronment interaction) was found to be highly significant for multiple traits. The total variation of PCI (principles component) and PC2 was calculated 90% for ETI (environment trait interaction), 57.35 for GTI (genotype trait interaction), and 87.5% for GE interaction. The results of total variation of ETI was found higher than GTI and GEI. On the other hand, the biplot analysis showed that four mega-environments occurred among ETI and three environments (El, E2 and E3) correlated with different traits, while environments E4 did not correlated with any traits. The environment El was found the best for Grain yield, test weight, thousand kernel weight and starch content, E2 for L?, b?, SPAD, and E3 for zeleny sedimentation, protein content and wet gluten content. In the biplot analysis, the environments divided three sector based on traits. Among the genotypes, the genotype G8 was performed the best in all tested environments, while G9 was found the best based on all traits. The re-sults of the study showed that GGE biplot analysis can be used as a good tool to identity of the most suitable environment in terms of all the characteristics as well as to identity the best genotypes for future breeding program. © 2019 Parlar Scientific Publications. It may occur any where in the central nervous system and spinal cord but is only encountered rarely. Nasal glial heterotopia (also known as ''nasal glioma''), is a rare developmental abnormality seen in a wide age group. Gangliogliomas may also manifest as a nasal glial heterotopia, and neurogenic tumors should be considered in the presence of a nasal mass. In this article, we present a case of ganglioglioma located in the right-nasal cavity. The mass was excised totally through an endoscopic approach. The ganglioglioma developed on a nasal glial heterotopia base. To our knowledge, a ganglioglioma arising from the nasal cavity has not been described previously in the literature.Öğe Heat and drought resistance criteria in spring bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.): Morpho-physiological parameters for heat tolerance(Academic Journals, 2011) Bahar B.; Yildirim M.; Yucel C.This study was aimed at evaluating some morpho-physiological parameters such as stomatal conductance (gs), canopy temperature (CT), canopy temperature depression (CTD) and stay green duration (SGD) in terms of heat tolerance. For this purpose, trials designed according to randomized complete blocks were conducted with twenty-four spring bread wheat genotypes as three replicated in the Research and Application Area of Field Crops Department of Agricultural Faculty of Cukurova University in 2002 to 2003 and 2003 to 2004 growth seasons. The measurements of gs were made at two different dates at heading stage in 2003 to 2004 growth season. CT was measured at two growth stages (late milky and soft dough) in 2002 to 2003 (first) season and it was also measured at two different hours at the complete heading stage in 2003 to 2004 (second) season. CTD was measured at two different hours at the complete heading stage in the second season. The other morpho- physiological parameter was SGD, which was determined in the first growth season. As a result: (1) The high gs values were observed at both measuring dates even though there was no significant differences among the genotypes; (2) CT showed significant differences except T2 measurement in 2003 to 2004 season, yet significant negative correlations were found between CT and grain yield (GY) in 2003 to 2004 season and in general mean; (3) Despite not being significant differences among the genotypes, a strong positive correlation was found between CTD and GY; (4) In spite of the fact that genotypes did not show any statistical differences, it was found that SGD had a negative significant correlation with CT but positive non-significant correlation with GY. It is concluded from assessments of all physiological traits that such genotypes as Kauz/Altar 84//Ads, Varona Cno 79, Mon's'/Ald's'//Bow's' and WL6718 can be high yielding even if under heat stressed conditions, and can be used as gene pool in wheat breeding programs for tolerance to heat stress. © 2011 Academic Journals.Öğe Influence of nitrogen applications on seed yield and chemical ingredient of winter rapeseed(Chemical Publishing Co., 2008) Karaaslan D.; Sürücü A.; Doran I.; Yildirim M.In this experiment, it was purposed to investigate effects of different nitrogen applications on seed yield, oil and protein content and nutrient uptake of winter rapeseed grown at field conditions. Three cultivars of winter rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) askona, karola and silvia, were used. The nitrogen applications applied to the soil were 0, 60, 120 and 180 kg N ha-1 as ammonium sulfate. Nitrogen concentration increased seed yield compared to untreated plants in all three cultivars. The highest seed yield was obtained from the plants received the highest nitrogen rate (180 kg N ha-1) for all three cultivars. When compared to seed yield of cultivars, the highest seed yields was in cultivar, askona with 180 kg N ha-1 and the lowest one was in the askona without nitrogen application too. The protein contents in all three cultivars were increased with the highest nitrogen content compared to untreated plants. However other nitrogen applications did not change protein content consistently. The changes in oil content were also not consistent among nitrogen levels and cultivars. Different nitrogen doses resulted in changes in nutrient levels in leaves of all three cultivars in some way. It can be revealed that nitrogen application at right doses can increase seed yield, oil and protein contents by increasing macro and micro nutrition of plants.Öğe Micronutrients (Fe, Mn and Zn) concentration and remobilization in spring wheat organs during grain filling(Gaurav Publications, 2013) Tiryakioglu M.; Yildirim M.; Karanlik S.; Ergun N.The trials were conducted during 2008-09 and 2009-10 wheat growing seasons. Four wheat genotypes (Triticum aestivum L.) were grown in field conditions to study Fe, Mn and Zn content in different plant organs during the grain-filling period. Micronutrient contents of plant organs including lower stems, peduncle, lower leaves, flag leaf, rachis, florets and grain were measured at four stages between anthesis and physiological maturity. Analysis of variance showed high genotype and measurement stage effects for all plant organs. Fe contents in stems declined during grain filling, whereas it increased for rachis, florets and grain, and remained constant in leaves. Mn content of plant parts stayed generally constant until grain maturity, except in stems. Zn sharply decreased during grain filling for all plant parts, except grain. The micronutrients remobilization order from plant organs to grain was ZnÖğe Nitrogen rate and timing implementation on durum wheat in a bed planting system(Penerbit Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, 2016) Yildirim M.; Yakut Z.; Akinci C.; Kurt F.; Kizilgeci F.The effects of nitrogen (N) fertilization at different growth stages were investigated on durum wheat (Triticum durum L.) grain yield and yield components (with irrigated bed planting) in Diyarbakir, Turkey. N was applied at a rate of 140 kg ha-1 and distributed to one, two and three applications at various combinations with five different growth stages (i.e. sowing, seedling growth, early tillering, stem elongation and booting). This study included 13 treatments, including the control (zero nitrogen). The N application timings (NAT) of the 50% sowing + 50% early tillering and 66% sowing + 33% early tillering treatments were most suitable for durum wheat. The results showed that NAT had significant effect on flowering time, S PA D readings of the early milky ripe stage, plant density, thousand kernel weights, grain filling duration, grain filling rate, grain N content, grain yield, harvest index and grain N yield. In summary, the highest values of parameters studied were obtained from the 50% sowing + 50% first tillering and 66% sowing + 33% early tillering treatments. N fertilization application rate and time of durum wheat genotypes should consist of applying 50-60% of the total N fertilizer at sowing and 40-50% at the early tillering stage under irrigated conditions and with bed planting.Öğe Pathological changes related with nasotracheal intubation(2005) Ölmez G.; Özyilmaz M.A.; Yildirim M.Nasotracheal intubation offers better view and surgical area in head, neck and maxillofacial surgery. However, widespread use of this technique is restricted by concerns on the risk of damage. In this prospective and double-blinded study, nasotracheal intubation was performed in 45 adult patients who underwent maxillofacial surgery. The incidence of nasal damage and hemorrhage were investigated. There was no nasal damage or severe hemorrhage in any patient. There was no correlation between nasal injury and duration of intubation. Bleeding frequency was raised by intubation attend frequency but there was no relation between intubation attend frequency and mucosal injury. Results of this study suggest that performing nasal preparation and the use of a soft tube reduces the incidence of hemorrhage and mucosal damage.Öğe Preventing cisplatin induced ototoxicity by N-acetylcysteine and salicylate.(2010) Yildirim M.; Inançli H.M.; Samanci B.; Oktay M.F.; Enöz M.; Topçu I.In this study we investigated if CP induced ototoxicity could be prevented or reduced by the use of salicylate and N-acetylcysteine. Fifty-four patients (28 females, 26 males; mean age 37+/-9.5 years; range 29 to 71 years) who had cisplatin chemotherapy due to solid organ tumors were enrolled in the study. The patients were randomized into three groups, with 18 patients in each group. The first group (control group) received cisplatin, second group received N-acetylcysteine (NAC; 600 mg/day) with cisplatin and the third group received salicylate (300 mg/day) with cisplatin. All patients evaluated audiologically including high frequency audiometry and auditory brainstem response. The cisplatin-induced ototoxic damage could be reduced in 10,000 and 12,000 Hz frequencies when N-acetylcysteine was added to the cisplatin therapy protocol. There was no decrease in the hearing loss levels of the patients who were receiving cisplatin with salicylate. According to auditory brainstem response testing results, there was no difference detected between N-acetylcysteine or salicylate for the amelioration of cisplatin induced ototoxicity.Öğe Quality traits performance of bread wheat genotypes under drought and heat stress conditions(Parlar Scientific Publications, 2016) Barutcular C.; Yildirim M.; Koc M.; Dizlek H.; Akinci C.; Sabagh A.E.L.; Saneoka H.The current study aimed at assessing grain quality traits under stress environments and to determine the superior wheat varieties with high quality traits and tolerant/sensitive to harsh environment. Sixteen spring wheat genotypes were grown under two temperature levels (cool and warm) and two regimes (rain-fed and irrigated) in the experimental area of Dicle University, Turkey. The analysis of variance showed that genotypes and environment were found to significantly influence all quality parameters as major effects. Rain-fed environment (water stress) caused a significant reduction in grain quality traits except grain protein and dry gluten contents. Warm environment (heat stress) caused significant reductions in grain weight, grain starch content, test weight, gluten index and grain flour content. Hence, delayed sowing associated with high temperature resulted in overall increase in protein content, dry gluten content and Zeleny test. In respect to genotypes, significant differences in quality parameters were found and performance of Inqilab-91, Cham-6, Adana-99 and Meta-2002 were better in respect of most traits under different conditions. It is also opined that Inqilab-91, Cham-6, Adana-99 and Meta-2002 are healthier and better responsive genotypes in respect of grain quality under adverse environment (water stress and heat stress). © by PSP.Öğe Stability evaluation of bread wheat genotypes under varying environments by ammi model(Parlar Scientific Publications, 2019) Kizilgeci F.; Albayrak O.; Yildirim M.; Akinci C.Stable and high yield varieties identification under various conditions prior to release as a variety is the main steps for breeding program. In order to exploit narrow and broad adaptability of genotypes and assess their effects, environment and GE interaction, 12 spring bread wheat genotypes were grown at four various experimental locations during 2013-14 and 2014-15 growing seasons. The stability and superiority of genotypes were identified by the AMMI (additive main effect and multiplicative interaction) and GGE (genotype, genotype x environment) biplot analysis. The AMMI analysis showed that the variance of genotype, environment and GE interaction were significant and the major treatment sum of squares were significantly affected by environments (85.47%), genotypes (8.51%) and GE interaction (6.07%). On the other hand, the first principal component axes (PCA 1) distributed to the complete interaction as 62.56%, and the second PCA 2 axes 37.44%. The GGE bi-plot analysis indicated that the total variation PC (principle component) was 83.09%, and PCI was accounted as 63.69%, PC2 only 19.40%. The AMMI analysis showed that CI I was quite stable as well as the highest yielder among test genotypes, while C7 and C8 were unstable and low yielding across environments. The GGE biplot indicated that it was detected in two mega-environments, and the first mega-environment covered three environment (El, E2 and E3), and the second mega-environment covered only E4. The genotypes C!1 and C12 remained superior under ME I, while genotypes CI, C3 and C5 were for ME II. Among the genotypes, the genotype CI may be recommended to be developed and released as an approved cultivar for being comparatively more stable and the highest yielder. Therefore the AMMI and GGE biplot models have an opportunity to determine the best genotypes under multiple environments considering on adaptability and stability concentrating on overall per-formance for screening superior genotypes. © 2019 Parlar Scientific Publications. Turkey, with its geographic and cultural heritage, universal cultural and natural values, and rich opportunities for visitors, has great potential for growth in cultural tourism. However, although cultural heritage is an important part of sustainable tourism, it also brings about the problem of how best to preserve cultural heritage. Vernacular, houses, which are a part of this heritage, face problems in the modern world. The changes in traditional houses caused by loss of function, as well as by changes in the social and physical environment, constitute serious problems for the survival of Turkey’s cultural heritage for the future. One way to conserve vernacular houses is to achieve sustainable habitation and provide modern, comfortable conditions for the users of these houses through cultural tourism. This paper examines the historical town of Diyarbakır, detailing the design criteria of its houses in planimetric and elevational order. Factors affecting design, including climate, social and urban structure, construction, and materials, are also considered. This article aims to create a vision for the future by examining the conservation and sustainability of cultural and natural values through cultural tourism. Vernacular houses in Diyarbakır that have been adaptively reused for cultural tourism were investigated through the lens of heritage conservation and sustainable cultural tourism. © SGEM2017 All rights reserved.Öğe Tuberculous parotitis: a review of seven cases.(2007) Oktay M.F.; Aşkar I.; Yildirim M.; Topçu I.; Meriç F.OBJECTIVES: Tuberculous parotitis is rare even in countries where tuberculosis is widespread. We evaluated seven patients with tuberculous parotitis together with clinical and histopathologic findings, and management. PATIENTS AND METHODS: In a period of 13 years, seven patients (5 males, 2 females; mean age 32 years; range 23 to 47 years) were diagnosed and treated for tuberculous parotitis. All the patients had a clinical suspicion of a parotid gland tumor. RESULTS: The lesions were localized on the left in four patients, and on the right in three patients. The duration of disease varied from seven months to three years. The masses were localized, mobile, and measured 3 to 6 cm in diameter; one was fistulized. There was no evidence for active pulmonary tuberculosis. Chest radiograms showed old tuberculous lesions in two patients. The PPD skin test results were positive (>12 mm induration) in five patients (71%). Computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging obtained in five patients showed mass formation suggesting a benign parotid gland tumor. Fine-needle aspiration cytology performed in three patients and cultivation performed in the fistulized case were all non-diagnostic. Superficial parotidectomy was performed in six patients and enucleation was performed in one patient. Histopathologic examination showed tubercles composed of macrophages, epithelioid cells and Langhans giant cells, and central caseous necrosis. Following diagnosis, all patients were treated with a four-drug chemotherapy regimen. There was no evidence for recurrence within a mean of 15-month follow-up. CONCLUSION: Tuberculosis of the parotid gland should be considered in the differential diagnosis of patients presenting with a solitary tumor in the parotid gland.
