Öğe Ankara Üniversitesi Sağlık Bilimleri Enstitüsü Veteriner Hekimliği Temel Bilimler Bölümü lisansüstü tezleri bibliyografyası(Salim DURUKOĞLU, 2023) Yerlikaya, Nigar; Küçükaslan, ÖzgülIn this study, the bibliography of the postgraduate theses completed in the veterinary medicine basic sciences department within the 40-year period from the establishment of Ankara University Graduate School of Health Science has been prepared. Theses, which are the main material of the research, were obtained from the archives of Ankara University Graduate School of Health Science, Faculty of Veterinary Dean's office and its units. In addition to the archives of the institution, the National Thesis Center database of the Council of Higher Education was also used. Ankara University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine has departments of anatomy, biochemistry, histology and embryology, history of physiology and veterinary medicine, and deontology. Four of these departments were included in the study, since the thesis data of the history of veterinary medicine and deontology department were previously published by the author, data repetition was not made in this article. While examining the theses, the department, author, name, type, year and advisor information of the thesis were recorded. In the text, the tags of the theses are written in chronological order, and the theses completed in the same year are arranged in alphabetical order. It was determined that a total of 83 master's theses and 159 doctoral theses were completed in four departments of the veterinary medicine basic sciences department between the establishment of the institute (1982) and February 2023. Accordingly, it was determined that the most doctoral theses were completed in the field of veterinary medicine physiology (55). It was determined that the highest number of master's theses were made in the field of biochemistry (54). As a result, it can be argued that this study provides a reference source that will provide convenience to postgraduate students and thesis advisors for their thesis studies planned in the future, and contributes to the bibliographic archive of the history of veterinary medicine.Öğe The beginning of veterinary radiology in Turkey and the historical development of this discipline in Ankara University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine(Ankara Univ Press, 2018) Kucukaslan, Ozgul; Golcu, Berfin Melikoglu; Yerlikaya, NigarRadiology, on which researches began at the end of the nineteenth century with the discovery of x-rays, has become an increasingly important diagnosis and treatment method in human medicine. Developments in the field of radiology were closely followed in the Ottoman State and following the first experimental studies launched in 1896, the use of radiology progressively increased in human medicine. On the other hand, radiological researches underwent a slower development in the field of veterinary medicine due to several reasons, including the difficulty of the restraint of animals, in particular the absence of devices suitable for the size of large farm animals, and the excessive exposure of veterinarians to x-rays. Informative articles on veterinary radiological researches conducted in Turkey have been detected in various publications dating back to the late nineteenth century. However, veterinary radiology was first put into practice with the education reform movement of the newly founded Turkish Republic, at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Higher Agricultural Institute. The pursuance of radiological research in the following years, after the subordination of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine to Ankara University, as well as education, training and publication activities have all earned radiology a key position among other veterinary clinical disciplines. This study was aimed at contributing to the history of veterinary medicine and science by providing an assessment of the beginning of veterinary radiology in Turkey and the historical development of this discipline in Ankara University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.Öğe The beginning of veterinary surgery education in Türkiye and the historical development of this discipline in Ankara University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine(Ankara Univ, 2024) Yerlikaya, Nigar; Kucukaslan, OzgulResearch on the history of the fields of science has special meanings and importance in the history of veterinary medicine. The first civilian veterinarians were sent abroad for specialization training in 1909. In the Republican era, specialization training in civil veterinary medicine was carried out in a planned and programmed system by the seven basic regulations issued by the Ministry of Agriculture from 1942 to the 1980s. In 1982, all graduate studies in the field of health sciences were included in graduate schools of health sciences, meanwhile, the Specialization High School, the main institution that trains specialists for civil veterinary services, was closed, thus specialization education in this field was terminated. In the following years, the legal regulations prepared for specialization training in civil veterinary medicine could not be put into effect, thus specialists could not be trained for about 40 years. In 2018, a new regulation was put into effect for specialization training in civil veterinary medicine. However, despite the end of the three-year transition period, the shortage of specialists in the field still continues, since education has not yet started. On the other hand, some details in the new regulation do not fully coincide with international practices. There is no doubt that specialization training in veterinary medicine in Türkiye should be carried out in line with national requirements; but it should also be of universal standards.Öğe Museology initiatives in turkish veterinary medicine and the veterinary history museum(Chartered Inst. of Building Services Engineers, 2015) Gül, Raziye Tamay Başağaç; Küçükaslan, Özgül; Yerlikaya, NigarAmong several samples of the museology initiatives from antiquity to today, the first known example in the veterinary field was founded in Alfort Veterinary School in France in 1766. Eight museology initiatives, of which one is military museum, six have been founded in Ankara and five are still active today, have been determined since the opening of the Civilian Veterinary School in Turkey. Today there are five active museums which have been founded as unique samples and they have no official licenses. Among them the Veterinary History Museum is the only one, which has a holistic collection related to whole Turkish veterinary history and as one of the world's leading museum; it takes places within the international museology literature. This study was performed in order to provide information about the museology activities in the field of veterinary medicine in Turkey and the Veterinary History Museum of Ankara University and thus to contribute veterinary history in general and museology studies in particular.Öğe Prof. Dr. Ahmet Noyan’ın hayatı ve akademik çalışmaları(Selcuk University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, 2021) Yerlikaya, Nigar; Küçükaslan, ÖzgülAmaç: Bu çalışma, Türk Veteriner Hekimliğinin önemli yapı taşlarından olan fizyoloji alanının duayen akademisyenlerinden 103 yaşını dolduran meslek çınarımız Prof. Dr. Ahmet Noyan’ın hem bilimsel yaşam öyküsünü ortaya koymak hem de veteriner hekimliği biyografi arşivine katkı sağlamak amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu çalışmada Türkiye'de veteriner radyolojinin başlangıcı ve Ankara Üniversitesi Veteriner Fakültesi'ndeki tarihsel gelişiminin değerlendirilerek veteriner hekimliği tarihi ve bilim tarihine katkı sağlanması amaçlanmıştırÖğe Views of veterinary faculty students on the concept of Artificial Intelligence and its use in Veterinary Medicine practices: An example of Ankara University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine(Ankara Univ, 2024) Yerlikaya, Nigar; Kucukaslan, OzgulThe study was carried out to determine the knowledge levels of the students of Ankara University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, on the concept of artificial intelligence and its use in veterinary practices. For this purpose, an online questionnaire was applied to a total of 529 students in the study, covering all grades of the faculty. The questionnaire consists of two parts. In the first part, there are 10 questions including demographics, knowledge about the concept of artificial intelligence, etc. The second part consists of 26 5-point Likert-type questions to determine students' thoughts on artificial intelligence applications. Data were analyzed using statistical tests. Consequently, the students participating in the study are partially knowledgeable about artificial intelligence (52.9%). They know the importance of following the developments in artificial intelligence for the profession (45.2%). They think that artificial intelligence applications will improve their professional skills (53.5%). They have the opinion that a robot cannot replace a veterinary surgeon (36.7%) and artificial intelligence cannot cause unemployment in veterinary medicine in the future (35.3%). In addition, they believe that artificial intelligence can cause ethical problems (39.3%) and that applications made with this technology should be developed in an ethical sense (42.4%). As a result, while the students think that artificial intelligence will have positive effects in the field of veterinary medicine, they also think that artificial intelligence can bring negative ethical implications. It can be concluded that including elective courses on artificial intelligence applications in veterinary faculties and conducting further research on the subject would be beneficial.Öğe Views of veterinary faculty students on the concept of Artificial Intelligence and its use in Veterinary Medicine practices: An example of Ankara University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine(Ankara University, 2024) Yerlikaya, Nigar; Küçükaslan, ÖzgülThe study was carried out to determine the knowledge levels of the students of Ankara University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, on the concept of artificial intelligence and its use in veterinary practices. As in every profession, veterinary professional development is possible with individual development by continuous studying and researching professional topics starting in students' graduate years. This research provides perspectives from the veterinary students of six faculties in Turkey on reading and research interests. The researchers developed a 39-item questionnaire-type instrument, which was given to 1,359 students studying at Ankara, Aydin, Burdur, Samsun, Erzurum, and Bursa in Turkey; data were analyzed using statistical tests. The number of books veterinary students read in a year did not exceed five by 34% of respondents. Only 22.3% read more than 11 books. Students were most likely to read novels (26.1%) and least likely to read religious books (0.5%). We also found that more than half the students were willing to join the scientific research community (56.3%) and become research assistants (57.8%). The researchers found a positive increase in students' views on reading and research interests as grade level increased, in favor of female and urban-based participants. In conclusion, the authors recommend that students be encouraged to do research, given assignments for researching various scientific topics, and provided environments to gain lifelong learning skills. Individuals who prefer reading and research will likely contribute to their personal and professional development and to their country in general.Öğe Yüksek Ziraat Enstitüsünde tarihi bir gelenek: Ant içme(Veteriner Hekimler Derneği, 2015) Küçükaslan, Özgül; Yerlikaya, Nigarİnsanlık tarihinin en eski geleneklerinden biri olan "ant içme"; herhangi bir duruma ilişkin duygu ve düşüncelerde inandırıcılığın sağlanması amacıyla bazı değerler üzerine yemin edilmesi şeklinde günümüze dek uygulanagelmiştir.
