Öğe Effect of Internalized Stigma on Peer Relationships in Adolescents with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder(Georg Thieme Verlag Kg, 2023) Usenmez, Tulay Yildirim; Durmaz, Gulbeyaz Baran; Budak, Funda KavakThis study aimed to determine the effect of internalized stigma on peer relationships in adolescents with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The study was conducted in a Special Education and Rehabilitation Center between August and September 2022. The correlational and cross-sectional study sample consisted of 70 adolescents with ADHD. The Descriptive Characteristics Form, the Internalized Stigma Scale for Children and Adolescents, and the Peer Relationship Scale were used to collect the data. It was determined that the mean total score of internalized stigma levels of adolescents was 93.24 (16.16), and the mean total score of peer relationships was 53.78 (10.76). It was determined that there was a strong negative correlation between the total score of internalized stigma and peer relationships ( r = - 0.748, p = 0.001). In addition, it was determined that internalized stigma predicted peer relationships by 55%. It can be said that internalized stigma and peer relationships of adolescents are moderate, and as adolescents' internalized stigma levels increased, their peer relationships decreased.Öğe Effect of Negative Automatic Thoughts on Medication Adherence in Individuals With Schizophrenia(Slack Inc, 2023) Usenmez, Tulay Yildirim; Sanli, Mehmet EminThis study aimed to determine the effect of negative automatic thoughts on medication adherence in individuals with schizophrenia. This was a cross-sectional study carried out in a community mental health center be-tween October 2022 and December 2022. The study included 102 individuals with schizophrenia. Data was collected using the Descriptive Characteristics Form, Negative Automatic Thoughts Questionnaire (NAT-Q), and Morisky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS). The individuals' total mean NAT-Q score was 106.34 +/- 27.32. There was a strong negative correlation be-tween NAT-Q and MMAS scores (r =-0.822, P < 0.05). The study found that negative automatic thoughts predicted medication adherence by 67%. The negative automatic thoughts of the individuals were high and the medication adherence of half of the individuals was low. It was determined that the level of negative automatic thoughts of individuals with schizophrenia may negatively affect their medication adherence. [Psychiatr Ann. 2023;53(11):518-524.]Öğe The Effect of Psychological Resilience on Hope in Individuals With Schizophrenia(Slack Inc, 2022) Usenmez, Tulay Yildirim; Budak, Funda Kavak; Ayhan, Mehmet OsmanThis study aimed to determine the effect of psychological resilience on hope in individuals with schizophre-nia. This was a cross-sectional study. One hundred and one (101) individu-als diagnosed with schizophrenia were included in the study. The Descriptive Characteristics Form, Brief Resilience Scale (BRS), and Herth Hope Scale (HHS) were used to collect data. A pos-itive and moderate correlation was ob-served between the individuals' mean total HHS scores and mean total BRS scores (P < .05, r = 0.508). Additionally, as a result of regression analysis, hope was found to be associated with 25% of the total variance in psychological resil-ience. The results of this study indicate that as the psychological resilience of the individuals increased, their hope levels increased, or as the hope levels of the individuals increased, their psy-chological resilience increased. [Psy-chiatr Ann. 2022;52(11):477-483.]Öğe Investigation of the Relationship between Burnout Level and Psychological Resilience in Parents of Children with Down Syndrome(Georg Thieme Verlag Kg, 2024) Durmaz, Gulbeyaz Baran; Usenmez, Tulay YildirimThe aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between burnout level and psychological resilience in parents of children with Down syndrome (DS). This study was conducted at a Special Education and Rehabilitation Center in T & uuml;rkiye between August and October 2022. The sample of the correlational and cross-sectional study consisted of 80 parents of children with DS. In this study, descriptive characteristics form (DFC), Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), and brief resilience scale (BRS) were used to collect data. The parents' mean scores on the emotional exhaustion subscale (EES) and personal achievement subscale (PAS) of MBI according to descriptive characteristics revealed statistically significant difference in the EES and PAS scores associated with the parents' age, gender, education status, working status, number of children in the family, and family type (p < 0.05). The parents' mean scores on the BRS according to descriptive characteristics revealed statistically significant difference in BRS scores associated with the gender, educational status, working status, number of children, type of family, and presence of a chronic disease in the child (p < 0.05). There was a strong negative correlation between the EES and the BRS (r = -0.740, p < 0.05), and a strong positive correlation between the PAS and the BRS (r = 0.758, p < 0.05). It was determined that parents' emotional exhaustion levels increased as their psychological resilience levels decreased, and parents' personal accomplishment increased as their psychological resilience levels increased.
