Öğe Effects of Biochar and Farmyard Manure Applications on Some Growth and Development Parameters in Spinach(Van Yuzuncu Yıl University, 2024) Turhan, Aynur Sadak; Şensoy, Suat; Kına, EsraIn this study carried out for two years in autumn and spring periods in order to determine the effects of biochar and farmyard manure applications on some growth and development parameters in spinach in Van ecological conditions, Matador spinach variety was used. As applications; in addition to control and chemical fertilizer (CF) (N:P:K: 12kg:8kg:12kg), 3 different farm manure (1, 2 and 3 tons sheep manure/da) applications added to CF and 3 different biochar (100, 200 and 300 kg oak wood charcoal/da) applications added to CF were included. In the experiment designed according to randomized plots trial blocks, a total of 48 application plots were created as 8 fertilizer applications, 2 seed sowing periods (autumn period (15 October) and spring period (15 March)) with 3 replications. Seed sowing was done in the plots by scribe method. It was determined that the fertilizer applications used in spinach gave statistically significant results in terms of some parameters examined (shoot fresh weight (g), shoot dry weight (g), plant height (cm), leaf thickness (mm), stem diameter (mm), rate of bolting (%) and total yield (kg/da)); and the application of 3 tons/da of farmyard manure combined with chemical fertilizer achieved the highest values for fresh shoot weight (293.52 g), dry shoot weight (28.77 g), plant height (37.25 cm), stem diameter (9.33 mm), and total yield (1502.9 kg/da), while the control treatment had the lowest values for all these parameters. The observed differences among fertilizer treatments indicate that increasing doses of farmyard manure significantly enhance plant growth and yield. In addition, it is thought that biochar fertilizer can also be used as an organic material.
