Öğe Child delirium assessment scale: Validity and reliability study(Kare Publishing, 2024) Turan, Engin; Manav, Gülay; Baran, GülbeyazObjectives: This study aims to develop the child delirium assessment scale to determine the factor structure and to determine its validity and reliability. Methods: The sample of the methodological type study consists of 105 children who were admitted to the third-level pediatric intensive care unit of a public hospital in a province in eastern Türkiye between February and May 2019 and met the inclusion criteria. Content and construct validity and reliability analyses of the items created using the Delphi technique were performed. Results: In the exploratory factor analysis of 28 items obtained with the Delphi technique, a one-dimensional structure consisting of 28 items explaining 49.99% of the total variance was obtained. In confirmatory factor analysis, it was determined that the scale structure had sufficient fit indices. The Cronbach’s alpha value was 0.96, and the test half value was 0.91. There was a strong correlation between them and the Cornell Pediatric Delirium Scale used as a parallel test (r=0.957, p<0.05). Conclusion: This study determined that the child delirium assessment scale is a valid and reliable measurement tool for nurses in determining delirium in children hospitalized in the intensive care unit.Öğe Delirium determination form for children: A delphi method study(Kare Publ., 2021) Turan, Engin; Manav, Gülay; Baran, GülbeyazINTRODUCTION: This study aims to develop a form capable of identifying delirium in children. METHODS: To develop this form, the Delphi method was used in this study and involved the participation of specialists who have conducted scientific studies and health professionals who have previously worked in the field of pediatrics intensive care. A total of 47 items were selected from the responses given in the first stage, and these items were then prepared in the form of a five-point Likert-type questionnaire for the second stage and delivered to 46 people who participated in the first stage. The second stage was completed with 38 respondents. After the completion of the second stage, the items underwent statistical analysis and were delivered to the same 38 people. Central tendency measures, including percentage, mean, standard deviation, median, first quarter and third quarter, and range were used to evaluate the data. Median, First Quarter (Q1), Third Quarter (Q3) and Width (Q3-Q1) are the statistical measures used to identify compromised items in the analysis of data collected by the Delphi method. RESULTS: According to the results from the Delphi method, the participants agreed on 32 items for delirium determination in children. The most important diagnostic criteria for delirium in children was defined by the consensus derived from the Delphi method. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: It was concluded that the delirium diagnosis form for children that was developed using the Delphi method may be suitable for nurses working in intensive care units. As this study was strictly qualitative in nature, it is recommended that the form this study developed based on the opinions of experts, be quantitatively analyzed to further confirm its suitability for the diagnosis of delirium, which is difficult for nurses to diagnose in pediatric patients hospitalized in intensive care units.Öğe Does Type 1 Diabetic Adolescents' Fear of Stigmatization Predict a Negative Perception Insulin Treatment?(Sage Publications Inc, 2020) Arda Surucu, Hamdiye; Baran Durmaz, Gulbeyaz; Turan, EnginThe purpose of this study was to investigate stigmatization, sociodemographic/diabetes-related characteristics and parents-related characteristics as predictors of a negative perception of insulin treatment in adolescents with type 1 diabetes in Turkey. The study was carried out using a cross-sectional correlation design. The research sample included 80 adolescents with type 1 diabetes who volunteered to take part. A positive perception of insulin treatment (beta = -.38, p < .001), stigmatization (beta = -.24, p = .013), informing others about one's type 1 diabetes (beta = .24, p = .017) and only using insulin when alone in public places (beta = .19, p = .042) were significant predictors of a negative perception of insulin treatment, and these variables explained 35% of the common variance. Diabetes' nurses should take stigmatization into account during their training and plan appropriate measures. Entrepreneurial, randomized, and controlled studies should be conducted to decrease the negative influence of stigmatization on the perception of insulin treatment in individuals with type 1 diabetes.Öğe EVALUATION OF INITIAL FINDINGS, PAIN AND ACTIVITIES OF DAILY LIVING IN CHILDREN HOSPITALIZED IN THE PEDIATRIC INTENSIVE CARE UNIT WITH DIABETIC KETOACIDOSIS(Ondokuz Mayıs Üniversitesi, 2023) Baran, Gülbeyaz; Turan, Engin; Turan, MensureAim: This study was conducted to determine the initial findings and evaluation of Daily, their pain, living activities of children hospitalized in the pediatric intensive care unit with the diagnosis of diabetic ketoacidosis. Method: It was carried out in the Pediatric Intensive Care Clinic of the Pediatrics Hospital of the Training and Research Hospital between October and December 2021. The research is cross-sectional, relationship-seeking descriptive type. The sample of this study consists of 54 children hospitalized with diabetic ketoacidosis. Wong Baker Pain Rating Scale, Glasgow Coma Scale and Katz Activities of Daily Living (ADL) index were used to collect data. In the analysis of research data; The percentage was used to determine the descriptive characteristics of children and their parents, the mean was used to evaluate the first evaluation findings of the children at the time they came to the hospital, and the correlation analysis test was used to determine the relationship between the scales. Results: There is a moderate negative correlation (r=-.321) between ADL index and VAS, a good positive correlation (r=.540) between ADL index and GCS, and a moderate negative correlation between VAS and GCS (r=-. 416) appears to be a relationship. Conclusions and Suggestions: While children's activities of daily living worsen, children's pain increases. As a result of the improvement in daily living activities, it was found that there was an improvement in the state of consciousness due to the increase in the quality of life of the children.Öğe Pediatri yoğun bakımda çalışan hemşirelerin dikkat düzeyleri ve etkileyen faktörler(Ordu Üniversitesi Sağlık Bilimleri Fakültesi, 2022) Aydın, Leyla Zengin; Turan, Mensure; Turan, EnginAmaç: Bu araştırma, pediatri yoğun bakımda çalışan hemşirelerin dikkat düzeylerini ve etkileyen faktörleri belirlemek amacıyla yapıldı. Verilerin değerlendirilmesinde standart sapma, ortalama, minimum, maksimum, t testi, Kruskal wallis, pearson korelasyon analizi kullanıldı.Bulgular: Araştırmaya katılan hemşirelerin %52.5’i kadın, %91.8’i lisans düzeyinde eğitim almış, %55.7’si evli, % 57.4’ünün 24 saatlik vardiya ile çalışmakta olduğu tespit edildi. Sonuç: Araştırmada bazı değişkenlerin hemşirelerin dikkat düzeyini etkilediği ve vardiyalı çalışmanın hemşirelerin bilişsel fonksiyonlarını etkileyerek dikkat düzeyini azalttığı belirlendi.Öğe THE EFFECTS OF DIFFERENT POSITIONS ON PHYSIOLOGICAL MEASUREMENT AND PERFUSION INDEX IN PEDIATRIC INTUBATED PATIENTS(Rojan GÜMÜŞ, 2023) Turan, Mensure; Turan, Engin; Baran, GülbeyazThe aim of this study is to determine the effects of four different body positions applied to paediatric intubated patients on physiological variables and perfusion index. The sample of this study, which was conducted as a quasi-experimental study in a single group in a paediatric intensive care unit, consisted of 44 intubated and monitored patients. The patients were given supine, right-lateral, left-lateral and Semi Fowler positions at intervals of two hours, and each position’s measurements were evaluated separately. In the analysis of data, number, percentage, mean, standard deviation, ANOVA, and post-hoc (Tukey HSD) tests were used. Fifty per cent of the patients were under 1 year old, 56.8% were male, and the mean patient age was 20.61±21.72 months. Peripheral oxygen saturation, systolic blood pressure and perfusion index mean values in the supine and Semi Fowler positions given to the patient were found to be statistically significant (p
