The phenotypic and genetic parameters of fattening characteristics in the Ile de France x Akkaraman (G1) crossbred lambs
(Scientific Technical Research Council Turkey, 2001) Eliçin, A; Dellal, G; Tatar, AM; Zoonooz, MCC
In this research, the phenotypic parameters of fattening characteristics were determined and the of heritabilities of these traits were estimated in the Ile de France (IF) x Akkaraman (AK) (G(1)) crossbreed male lambs. It was estimated that the widest genetic variation was daily live weight gain between the beginning of fattening and the 42nd and 56th day. It was concluded that the selection based on the daily live weight gain of the progenies to increase the meat yield in the IF X AK (G(1)) sheep can be successful.

Physical properties of down fiber obtained from hair x Angora (B1) crossbred goats
(Scientific Technical Research Council Turkey, 2003) Erdogan, Z; Dellal, G; Söylemezoglu, F; Tatar, AM
In this research some physical characteristics of down fibers obtained from hair x Angora (131) crossbred goat were examined. The diameter of fiber, natural length, real length and number of crimps of the down fibers were 20.08 +/- 0.50 p, 3.77 +/- 0.17 cm, 6.22 +/- 0.23 cm and 9.79 +/- 0.34, respectively. In addition the strongest color determined in this research were white (63.93%) and light brown (18.03%). According to the diameter of fiber, the down fibers of hair goats included cashmere (55.33%) cashgora (24.03%) and mohair (20.64%).

The relationships between colourfullness and physical properties of down and coarse fibres obtained from goats raised in Turkey
(Scientific Technical Research Council Turkey, 2002) Söylemezoglu, F; Erdogan, Z; Dellal, G; Tatar, AM
In this research, the colourfullness and the relationships between colourfullness and physical characteristics in the coarse and down fibres obtained from hair goats raised in the provinces of Antalya. Artvin, Diyarbakir, Izmir. Kars and Konya in Turkey were studied. It was found that the most common colours were black (69%), white (9%) and milky brown (37%), and brown (15%) and white (14%), respectively in the coarse and down fibres for the provinces overall. The difference in fineness between the white and cream colour groups was significant (p<0.01). There was not a linear relationship in terms of colourfullness between coarse and down fibres in each animal.
