Öğe DETERMINATION OF MILK YIELD CHARACTERISTICS OF KARAKAS SHEEP, BIRTH AND WEANING WEIGHT OF LAMBS IN FARM CONDITIONS(Univ Agricultural Sciences & Veterinary Medicine Bucharest, 2018) Sireli, H. DenizThe aim of this study is to determine birth and weaning weights and milk yield characteristics of Karakas sheep. The animal material of the study was composed by 187 lambs and 93heads of ewes aged between 2-6 in Diyarbakur province. Birth weights and weaning weights were found to be 4.08 kg and 18.56 kg in the females and 4.35 kg respectively 19.68 kg in the males. Lactation milk yields, lactation length and mean milk yields in the 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 year old ewes were: 86.86, 95.74, 95.00, 94.50, 94.85 liters; 166, 92, 167, 47, 168, 79, 169, 36, 165 days; 480.5, 516.3, 529.2, 501.9, 589.0 gr, respectively. According to the research, the yield characteristics of Karakas sheep breeders in Diyarbakur province were found to be satisfactory for the region.Öğe The Effect of Fattening Period on the Fattening Ability and Carcass of Male Awassi Lambs(Galenos Publ House, 2007) Tekel, Nihat; Sireli, H. Deniz; Vural, M. EminThis study was carried out on Southeastern Anatolia Research Institute in Diyarbakir in 2005. The aim of the experiment was to investigate fattening performance and carcass characteristics of Awassi Lambs born at 2005 and fed at different terms. The creep fed lambs weaned at two months of age. The each of groups contains 15, 16, and 14 head of lambs and fed intensively for 60 (BS60), 75 (BS75), and 91 (BS91) days respectively. The average final live weight of lambs were found 36.07 +/- 1.64, 39.07 +/- 1.13 and 42.11 +/- 1.50 kg respectively and there was significant difference between BS60 group and BS91 group. The dressing percentage were found 47.41 +/- 0.677, 51.63 +/- 0.869 and 50.13 +/- 0.294, the average daily gain were 0.26 +/- 0.018 0.24 +/- 0.007 and 0.22 +/- 0.016 kg and feed conversion ratio of the groups were found 5.410, 5.635 and 6.160 kg respectively.Öğe REASONS FOR CULLING AND REPLACEMENT RATE IN DAIRY CATTLE(Univ Agricultural Sciences & Veterinary Medicine Bucharest, 2017) Tatar, Ali Murat; Sireli, H. Deniz; Tutkun, MuhittinThe replacement rate in cattle breeding has an important effect on the profitability of breeding as well as the success of the breeding program. Culling decisions play an important role whether the herd replacement rate is high or low. The replacement rate in cattle breeding has an important effect on the profitability of breeding as well as the success of the breeding program. Removal decision from herd will play an important role whether the replacement rate high or low. The reasons for culling were reported as low milk yield (29-36%), reproductive problem (15-27%), mastitis (18-23%) and other causes (25%). On the other hand, voluntary and involuntary culling rate are shown as 43,7% is 56.3% respectively. This rewiev focussed on evaluating the reasons for culling of cows, replacement rate, herd life and productive life in dairy cattle enterprises.
