Determination of medicine and dentistry students? Market choice and their attitudes in preferring brand name products using binary logistics regression method
    (2012) Akkus Z.; Satici O.; Sanisoglu S.Y.; Akyol M.; Keskin S.
The aim of this study is to determine Medicine and Dentistry students' market choices and their attitude in buying brand name products. Currently, price and quality of products in hypermarkets are the common features consumers care when shopping. It is well known that many people prefer cheap and quality products and maintain a relative attitude due to increasing economic difficulties. 229 medicine and 222 dentistry (totally 451) students comprise the samples of this study. A poll of 28 questions was conducted to determine the preferences of the students in shopping. Taking market preferences as dependent variable, and other related variables as independent, the parameters affecting market preferences are analyzed with Binary Logistic Regression Method. To the question "Which market do you prefer in shopping?", 155 students (%34,4) replied BIM, 138 of them (%30.8) replied Grocer's, 88 of them (%19.5) replied Migros, 70 of them (%15.5) said Carrefoursa is the market they prefer in shopping. As result of the survey, in the first and second analysis, correct classification rates have been found to be 81.6% and 76.3% respectively. It has been found out that the most effective parameters in preferring markets for shopping are age, father's education, type of accommodation (house, dorms, with parents, etc.), buying the markets' brand name products, selling quality products, product variety, market's being modern and spacious. In field works, because it produces more reliable results than both univariate logistic analysis and other statistical analysis when the variables representing the data are discrete variables, multivariate logistic regression analysis is considered to be the best method to be used.

The effects of hypertonic NaCl (7.5%) in dogs with induced acute pulmonary artery obstruction
    (2003) Ulkü R.; Eren N.M.; Cakir O.; Satici O.; Balci A.; Eren S.
The study was performed on 11 female and 9 male dogs to investigate the effect of hypertonic NaCl in severe hypotension and shock caused by acute pulmonary artery obstruction. The investigation was performed in Dicle University Healt Research Center (DUHRC). The youngest subject was six months old and the oldest was two years old. Their mean body weight was found as 19 kg. All the subjects were operated under general anesthesia. Invasive measurements of arterial pressure were performed through the right femoral artery by monitorization. All subjects were performed left thoracotomy, entrance to thorax was through 5th intercostal space, and first left then right pulmonary artery were circumferenced loosely with tape. After this, mean pulmonary artery pressures are recorded with the help of monitor by inserting canulla into the pulmonary artery. Pulmonary artery pressures at 3rd, 5th, 10th, 13th, 15th, 18th and 21st minutes after ligation of right main pulmonary artery and left lower lobe pulmonary artery, and mean artery pressures are recorded. Sodium nitroprusside is given to half of the subjects and nitroglycerine is given to the other half in order to lower pulmonary hypertension. Pulmonary arterial pressure measurements following administration of these drugs are recorded. 7.5% of NaCl infusion to subjects is performed in case of hypotension and shock. Isotonic NaCl solution is used in the control group. Mean arterial pressures in group receiving sodium nitroprusside + 7.5% NaCl solution are found significantly higher statistically when compared to group receiving sodium nitroprusside + 0.9% NaCl isotonic solution. Difference in mean arterial pressures were not found statistically significant in the group receiving nitroglycerin + 7.5% NaCl when compared to group receiving nitroglycerin + 0.9% NaCl solution.

Radiological damage in rheumatoid arthritis: Relationship between the duration of morning stiffness, depressive symptoms, and disease duration
(Acta Medica Mediterranea, 2015) Celepkolu T.; Sariyildiz M.A.; Yazmalar L.; Gamze Erten Bucaktepe P.; Çetinçakmak M.G.; Satici O.
Aims: The aim of this study was to evaluate radiological damage and disease-related variables in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Material and methods: Ninety patients diagnosed with RA were enrolled in this cross-sectional and descriptive study. All of the patients were assessed using the Rheumatoid Arthritis Quality of Life and Health Assessment Questionnaire scales and the Beck Depression Inventory. The Disease Activity Score 28 scale was used to assess disease activity, and antibodies against mutated citrullinated vimentin (Anti MCV) were identified with an Enzyme-Linked Immuno Sorbent Assay. Radiological damage was calculated with the modified Larsen method. Results: According to the suggested cut-off point for the Larsen score (scores ? 28), 35.5% (n=32) of the patients with RA had an erosive score. The patients with erosive RA had significantly higher Anti MCV, disease duration and Beck depression scores than did the non-erosive RA group. Multivariate regression analyses indicated that the Beck depression score, disease duration and duration of morning stiffness were independently associated with the radiological score. Conclusion: Radiological damage in RA patients is a result of multifactorial origins and is associated with disease-related variables such as disease duration, duration of morning stiffness, Anti- Cyclic citrullinated peptide levels and depressive symptoms.

Zinc and copper in congestive heart failure.
    (1990) Atlihan F.; Söylemezoglu T.; Gökçe A.; Güvendik G.; Satici O.
In this study serum zinc (Zn) and copper (Cu) levels in children with congestive heart failure (CHF) were evaluated. The mean serum Zn levels of the patients with CHF were 92.9 +/- 18.9 micrograms/100 ml, and they showed a significant decrease when compared to controls (p less than 0.05). The mean serum Cu levels, which were 173.6 +/- 26.6 micrograms/100 ml, showed a significant increase when compared to controls (p less than 0.001). After digoxin therapy, a significant increase in Zn levels and a significant decrease in Cu levels were observed.
