Bahdinan is the name of the Kurdish region between the Upper Zap river and the Dicle river in northern Iraq, which corresponds to territory of Duhok at the present time. According to popular opinion, name of the Amirate has come until to day by being distorted from the name of its founder Bahauddin. Bahdinân's orders have been famous since the 15th century as dynasty of 'Mir Seyfediniler' relative to Amer Seyfuddin. The administrative center of the Kurdish Amirate of Bahdinan is Imadiye (Amedi) city. This Amirate was adjacent to Cizre in the north-west, Hakkari and Shamdinan in the north-east, Soran Kurdish Amirate in the east and Mosul in the south. The Amirate of Imadiye which was founded in the beginning of the 14th century, left the Safavids as a result of the efforts of the Idris-i Bitlisi and accepted Ottoman rule in 1515 and since this date it was governed in the form of 'government flag' attached to Diyarbakir Governorship. Imadiye Amirate, reigned for a while under the Bagdad Governorship and then Mosul. The Amirate was important services in political and military areas of the Ottoman Empire In 1842, the Ottoman Empire annihilated the Amirate of Imadiye imperial and made it an Ottoman sanjak.
