Öğe Effect of row spacing and phosphorus on seed yield and yield components of narbon bean (Vicia narbonensis) in Diyarbakir, Turkey(2002) Basbag M.; Doran I.; Samanci B.A study was conducted during 1999-2000 and 2000-2001 to determine the effect of row spacing (20, 40 and 60 cm) and phosphorus levels (0, 13.2, 26.4, 39.6 and 52.8 kg/ha) on seed yield and yield components of narbon bean (Vicia narbonensis) at research fields of Dicle University in Diyarbakir, Turkey. The effect of row spacing was not significant on narbon bean seed yield but phosphorus significantly influenced yield. The highest seed yield (1606.8 kg/da) and improvement in yield components were observed from 26.4 and 39.6 kg P/ha and 40 cm row spacing combination.Öğe Enhancing Skin Penetration: The Role of Microneedles(Society of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Ankara (FABAD), 2021) Samanci B.; Yener F.G.; Değim I.T.since transdermal delivery systems provide some important advantages over oral delivery systems and parenteral delivery systems, they have attracted the attention of researchers. Degradation of the drug in the gastrointestinal (Gi) system, irritation of the Gi system tract, and the first-pass effect of the drug are some of the disadvantages of oral administration, while the need for medical staff to administer it and creating phobia in the patient are among the disadvantages of parenteral administration. to overcome these drawbacks, researchers have developed formulations for the transdermal delivery of drugs. The most important handicap of transdermal drug administration is the stratum corneum layer (st. corneum), which forms the enormous barrier layer of the skin. some techniques have been developed to overcome this serious barrier problem of the skin. Microneedles are one of the physical methods to increase the penetration of therapeutic agents through the skin. Microneedles consist of needle arrays long enough to deliver the drug to the dermis layer and micron-sized enough to not reach the nerve cells and not cause pain. Microneedles can be classified into five different types as solid microneedles, dissolving microneedles, hollow microneedles, coated microneedles, and hydrogel microneedles according to the properties of the materials used in the fabrication and the mechanisms of release of the therapeutic agent. Microneedles can be used in the application of vaccines, proteins, nucleotides, drug delivery systems, cosmetic, and for diagnostic purposes. Although important technological developments have been experienced for microneedle in many areas such as drug delivery systems, disease diagnosis, and cosmetics in the last two decades, there are many working areas that need to be developed. especially in long-term treatments, studies should be done to develop them as smart devices. © 2021 Society of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Ankara (FABAD). Fifty-four patients (28 females, 26 males; mean age 37+/-9.5 years; range 29 to 71 years) who had cisplatin chemotherapy due to solid organ tumors were enrolled in the study. The patients were randomized into three groups, with 18 patients in each group. The first group (control group) received cisplatin, second group received N-acetylcysteine (NAC; 600 mg/day) with cisplatin and the third group received salicylate (300 mg/day) with cisplatin. All patients evaluated audiologically including high frequency audiometry and auditory brainstem response. The cisplatin-induced ototoxic damage could be reduced in 10,000 and 12,000 Hz frequencies when N-acetylcysteine was added to the cisplatin therapy protocol. There was no decrease in the hearing loss levels of the patients who were receiving cisplatin with salicylate. According to auditory brainstem response testing results, there was no difference detected between N-acetylcysteine or salicylate for the amelioration of cisplatin induced ototoxicity.Öğe Primer parotid tuberculosis in two siblings(University of Dicle, 2013) Baylan M.Y.; Ozmen C.A.; Samanci B.Tuberculosis of the parotid gland is an uncommon disease. In this study, we present primary parotid tuberculosis in two siblings. Two female siblings, of 16 and 14 years of age, presented with unilateral masses in the parotid region. Acid-fast bacilli were found in the aspiration fluid of the lesion. After the tuberculosis treatment, the patients were doing well. In this study, we discussed clinical presentation, diagnosis, treatment of primary parotid tuberculosis, and noteworthiness the transmission of mycobacterium tuberculosis in extrapulmonary tuberculosis.
