Öğe A diagnosis and treatment of the multiple compound odontoma in mandibula(2009) Sezgin Bolgul B.; Gorgun B.; Ozer T.; Celenk S.; Ayna B.; Atakul F.Odontomas are classified as odontogenic tumours: however, they are thought to be developmental anomalies in which all dental tissues are represented. Compound odontomas are the most common type of odontogenic tumours and generally they are asymptomatic. The occurence of odontoma in the primary dentition is also uncommon. This paper, describes a case of compound odontomas diagnosed in 9 years old male child who presented to the Dicle University Dental Faculty Pediatric clinic complaining about unerupted teeth.Öğe Early treatment of excessive open bite and follow up: Case report(2009) Hamamci N.; Ozer T.; Basaran G.; Hamamci O.Multiple factors play role in the etiology of openbite malocclusion. For a successful orthodontic treatment the etiology of the malocclusion must be eliminated. A proper diagnosis of the malocclusion and elimination is an essential factor, especially in open bite cases. In the present case, patient was a seven year one month old boy who had a severe open bite with class I molar relationship and tongue thrust. In the anemnesis of the patient, tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy surgery was reported at the age of four. Also, difficulty in the speach was another important finding of the patient. The final outcome of the treatment was a great improvement in function andesthetics. The main reason this patient could be successfully treated nonsurgically was her initial compliance, and the proper therapy options used during this two-phase treatment.Öğe Handedness of orthodontists and its impact on practice(Cumhuriyet University Faculty of Dentistry, 2012) Odabas B.; Dildes N.; Genc C.; Veli I.; Ozer T.Objectives: To assess the handedness prevelance of orthodontists and analyse the discomfort of left-handed orthodontists on practice. Materials and Methods: A questionnaire about the laterality of orthodontists and their discomfort was prepared and distributed to our orthodontic society members. 173 questionnaires were investigated. Results: Fifteen of the participants were left-handed individuals. Of all the 15 samples, only 1 practitioner had been educated with left hand manipulation while studying dentistry. One of the 7 private practioners preferred left-handed chair for his clinic. Regarding left-handed participants working with right-sided chair, 4 of them thought this situation depresses their treatment quality and 9 of them refused. Most of the left-handed participants complaint about the university education. Conclusions: Left-handed orthodontists afford to adapt themselves to a right-handed world. They could to be educated on left-handed dental chairs to display a more skillful clinical performance.
