Öğe The effect of different replications of humic acid fertilization on yield performances of common vetch (Vicia sativa L.)(Academic Journals, 2011) Saruhan, Veysel; Kusvuran, Alpaslan; Kokten, KaganThis study was conducted in a randomized complete block design with three replications in Diyarbakir, Turkey, in 2003 to 2004 and 2004 to 2005 growing seasons, in order to determine the effects of different humic acid treatments (control, soil 100%, seeds 100%, leaves 100%, soil 50% + seeds 50%, soil 50% + leaves 50%, seeds 50% + leaves 50% and seeds 33% + soil 33% + leaves 33% fertilizations) on herbage and crude protein concentration of common vetch. According to the results of this study, humic acid treatments increased the yields, and this increase was found to be significant as well as statistical. According to the two-year research, the highest value for green herbage yield (15180 kg ha(-1)), dry herbage yield (3045 kg ha(-1)) and plant height (61 cm) was obtained from soil 100% fertilizations, while the highest crude protein concentration (13.43%) was obtained from seeds 33% + soil 33% + leaves 33% fertilizations.Öğe EFFECTS OF SEWAGE SLUDGE USED AS FERTILIZER ON THE YIELD AND CHEMICAL CONTENTS OF LUCERNE (Medicago sativa L.) AND SOIL(Parlar Scientific Publications (P S P), 2015) Kusvuran, Alpaslan; Saruhan, Veysel; Aydin, Isil; Kokten, KaganThis study was conducted to determine the effects of sewage sludge (SS) used as fertilizer at different concentrations (control, 20 kg ha(-1) nitrogen (N), 30, 60 and 90 ton ha(-4) SS, 20 kg ha(-1) N + 30 ton ha(-1) SS, 20 kg ha(-1) N + 60 ton ha(-1) SS and 20 kg ha(-1) N + 90 ton ha(-1) SS) on lucerne yields and chemical features. For this purpose, an increasing level of SS was applied to the soil samples. The residuals of some heavy metal (Hg, Cr, Fe, Ni, Zn, Mn, Pb, Cu, Co, and Se) and macro element (K, Ca, Na, Mg, C, and S) concentrations were measured in the plants and soils. According to the results of this study, SS, when applied to soil in increasing amounts, raised the mineral matter contents of the plants, which favorably affected plant growth. Consequently, it affected the herbage yield, increasing the yield in parallel with the increasing SS concentrations. Applying N with the SS positively influenced the heavy metal contents of the lucerne and residue in the soil. Additionally, the heavy metal contents were found at below critical levels in both the soil and plants. Therefore, SS application as fertilizer used in appropriate concentrations did not pollute the soil very much, but did lead to an increase in plant products.Öğe Fatty Acid Compositions of the Seeds of Some Trifolium Species(Springer, 2017) Saruhan, Veysel; Kokten, Kagan; Kusvuran, Alpaslan; Inci, Hakan; Das, Aydin; Yilmaz, H. Seyma[Abstract Not Available]Öğe Nutritional composition of potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) Haulms(Mattioli 1885, 2018) Kaplan, Mahmut; Ulger, Ismail; Kokten, Kagan; Uzun, Sati; Oral, Elif Varhan; Ozaktan, Hamdi; Temizgul, RidvanThe present study was conducted to investigate the nutritional composition of the haulms of commonly grown 5 potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) cultivars (Milva, Laura, Granola, Europrima and Jelly). Plant materials were harvested from potato production fields of Efsane Seed Company just before tuber harvest. Current findings revealed that green herbage yields of potato haulms varied between 416.51 and 670.32 kg/ da, dry herbage yields between 381.62 and 527.24 kg/da, crude protein (CP) ratios between 10.85-14.48%, crude ash (CA) ratios between 5.22 and 9.10%, acid detergent fiber (ADF) ratios between 22.46 and 33.94%, neutral detergent fiber (NDF) ratios between 47.99 and 60.91%. Gas production values varied between 33.15 and 47.56 mL, methane productions between 5.27 and 8.35 mL, metabolic energy (ME) values between 7.45 and 9.29 MJ/kg DM and organic matter digestibility (OMD) values between 50.77-63.69%. Considering the mineral content of potato haulms, iron contents varied between 47.35 and 180.07, manganese contents between 28.14 and 85.15, cobalt contents between 0.43 and 1.13, nickel contents between 3.40 and 8.60, copper contents between 10.84 and 15.35, zinc contents between 4.14 and 15.60, cadmium contents between 1.02 and 1.55 and lead contents between 6.74 and 9.80 mg/kg/DM. It was concluded based on current findings from the haulms of five different potato cultivars that haulms had quite high feed quality values. With rich mineral contents, haulms may eliminate supplementary mineral requirements of live stock. Therefore, it can be stated that haulms of all five cultivars can be used as an alternative feed source for animals.Öğe Status and health of some natural pastures in south east Anatolia region of Turkey(Range Management Soc India, 2019) Seydosoglu, Seyithan; Kokten, Kagan; Saruhan, Veysel; Sevilmis, UgurTo study the status and health of pastures in Derik district of Mardin province in south east Anatolia region, seven natural pastures were surveyed by modified wheel point with loop. Total of 45 plant species were recorded in studied pastures. The study was carried out during May and June 2015. Plant species were divided into three different groups: decreasers, increasers and invaders according to the palatability of the plant species for the grazing animals. Average vegetation cover ratio was found as 70.0%. Plant cover percentages of grasses, legumes and other family plants in the total plant cover were 21.53%, 29.19% and 49.28%, respectively. Invasive species were found dominant in these studied pastures. Thus pastures of Mardin province were highly degraded, and sustainable management and rehabilitation techniques need to be urgently applied to stop this on-going continuous degradation.
