Öğe A Bimaxillary Orthognathic Surgery Approach to a Case of Long Face and Gummy Smile(Ankara Diş Hekimleri Odası, 2007) Erol, Behçet; Yaman, Ferhan; Atılgan, SerhatThe long face patients’ clinical characteristics are accompanied with gummy smileand/or anterior open bite. In these types ofpatients, both aesthetic and functionalreconstruction depend on a carefullyosteotomy planning.Upper lip position in relax, the relationbetween upper lip and incisors, face proportions are important criteria to decidewhether a patient has gummy smile and/oranterior open bite problems. Often verticalmaxillary excess is seen in these types ofdevelopmental malformation patients.Reducing the maxillary excess by Le Fort Iosteotomy and locating the mandible withrespect to maxilla by mandible osteotomyfor treatment provides satisfactory results. This study aims to present and discuss theaesthetic and functional results of a bimaxillary orthognathic surgical operation, conducted on a 21-year old female patient, who applied to our clinic with the complaints of aesthetic and chewing problemsÖğe Maksillo-fasiyal fraktürler: 2308 olgu ile ilgili retrospektif bir çalışma(1998) Erol, Behçet; Özer, Nedim; Atay, Çağlayan; Tanrıkulu, Rezzan; Gülsün, BelginÇalışmamızda, 1978-1996yıllan arasında, D.Ü. Tüm fasiyal fraktürler içerisinde izole fraktürlerin % 88.85 oranında görüldüğü ve en fazla sayıda fraktürün mandibulada meydana geldiği tespit edilmiştir.Öğe Malpractise in a child with mandibular fracture: A case report(2006) Yaman, Ferhan; Atılgan, Serhat; Erol, BehçetThis study aims to discuss malpractise case report and treatment principles for pediatric mandibular fractures. In our study an 11-year-old girl was reffered to our clinic with facial asymmetry who were treated with titan mech for mandibular fracture when she was 4 years old. Titan mech was to be left in her mouth for seven years. Under local anesthesia titan mech and screws were removed by intra-oral approach. Furthermore distraction osteogenesis was planned for the treatment of facial asymmetry. As a result of this paper we recommend that screws and plates should be removed as soon as healing period is over and especially in pediatric cases, doctors must have a greater responsibility about therapy period.Öğe Oral myiasis caused by hypoderma bovis larvae in a child: a case report(2000) Erol, Behçet; Ünlü, Gülten; Balcı, Kadri; Tanrıkulu, RezzanMyiasis is the invasion of living tissue of humans and other mammals by the eggs or larvae of flies of the order of Diptera. Our study was performed with a retrospective analysis of 90 patients under the age of 15 years with maxillofacial tumor treated in our clinic between 1985-2002. In addition, treatment modalities and long-term follow-up results of these patients were evaluated. According to our results, it was established that maxillofacial tumors were mostly observed in the 11-15 age group (39 cases, 43.3%) and on the mandible (48 cases, 53.3%). There were 21 (23.3%) odontogenic, 63 (70%) benign nonodontogenic and 6 (6.7%) malignant non-odontogenic. Mixed tumors were the most common type of the odontogenic tumors, and mesenchymal tumors were the most common non-odontogenic tumors. Surgical excision, curettage or en bloc resection were adequate for treatment of these tumors.
