    Coronary angiography and nursing applications

    Anjiography is an invasive diagnostic procedure. This procedure is usually performed with a technique of injecting a contrast agent into the vascular system to outline the heart and blood vessels. When a particular heart chamber or blood vessel is singled out for study, the procedure is known as selective angiography. Angiography makes use of cineangiograms which are series of rapidly changing movies on an intensified fluoroscopic screen that records the passage of the contrast agent through the vascular site(s). This procedure is used most commonly to assess coronary artery patency and to determine if revascularization procedures are necessary. Nurses are key persons for providing the patients' compliance to this procedure. In this article we explained the role of the nurses for anjiographic procedures.
