Öğe Attitudes of high school student's towards dictionaries(T.C. Milli Egitim Bakanligi, 2016) Can A.; Deniz E.Dictionaries not only include words which represent the existence of nations throughout the history but also they protect words and inform readers about words' meanings. Moreover, they also help improvement of word treasury and richness of the meaning. Attitudes have unique importance in stability of behaviors. Thus, attitudes of high school students towards dictionaries have important affect on their attitudes of their use of dictionaries in both positive and negative ways. Positive attitudes towards use of dictionaries enable students to benefit from it whereas negative attitudes towards the use of dictionaries will not enable students to benefit from it. This study investigated whether attitudes of students of 9th, 10th, and 11th grades towards use of dictionaries with several variables changed or not. The population of this study involves all high school students in the center of Diyarbakir province. The sample of this study consists of 404 high school students who were attending randomly chosen two schools at 9th, 10th and 11th grades. Data were collected through Attitude Scale towards Dictionaries which was developed by Yaman and Dagdas (2013) and personal information sheet that were developed by the same researchers. Data was analyzed with SPSS 21.0. t-test and ANOVA were used to test relationship between /among variables. Results showed that the attitudes of students towards dictionary use were high. Moreover, relationship among attitudes of dictionary use with gender, mothers' education level, fathers' educational level, family monthly income and mother tongue were not significantly different whereas grades were significantly different.Öğe Effects of cervical degenerative changes on vertebral artery blood flow in patients with and without vertigo(2003) Çevik R.; Bilici A.; Can A.; Kocamaz S.; Gür A.; Nas K.Vertigo is an important clinical finding of vertebrobasiller insufficiency syndrome which occurs as a result of cervical spondylosis. The aim of present study was to investigate blood flow velocity of vertebral artery in patients having cervical spondylosis with and without vertigo by color Doppler ultrasonography, and its relation with degenerative changes of cervical spine. Thirty patients with vertigo due to spondylosis (I group), 20 patients with spondylosis and without vertigo (II group), and 20 healthy controls were included to the study. Maximum systolic velocity and end diastolic velocity of vertebral arteries were measured bilaterally in all subjects by color Doppler ultrasonography. Mean ages of study groups were 49.2 ± 8.5, 47.35 ± 8.23 and 45.63 ± 4.75, respectively There were significant differentiations among three groups in all VA blood flow velocities (p<0.01 and p<0.001). There were significant correlations between stage of cervical degenerative changes and all VA blood flow velocities (p<0,001). In conclusion, color Doppler ultrasonography, which is non-invasive and uncomplicated tecnique, is a useful method to evaluate vertebral artery blood flow velocity in patients having cervical spondylosis with vertigo.
