    Effect of Anaesthesia Method on Preoperative Anxiety Level in Elective Caesarean Section Surgeries

    Objective: In this study, the effect of the anaesthesia method on preoperative anxiety in parturients scheduled to undergo elective caesarean surgery was investigated. Methods: After Dicle University Ethics Committee approval, 100 American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) II parturients, aged between 18 and 45 years, were included in this study from 2011 to 2012 at the Dicle University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Anaesthesiology. The parturients were divided into two groups, with 50 patients in each group: general anaesthesia (GA) and spinal anaesthesia (SA). Patients were evaluated during the preoperative visit. Demographic data and STAI TX-1 form to measure preoperative anxiety were recorded. Results: There were no significant differences between the two groups in maternal age, gestational age, level of education and number of children (p>0.05). The average anxiety score was significantly higher in the SA group than in the GA group (p<0.05). Conclusion: In conclusion, spinal anaesthesia is associated with a higher preoperative anxiety level than general anaesthesia in obstetric patients. Therefore, it is necessary to take prevention against preoperative anxiety for the patients undergoing caesarean section surgeries under spinal anaesthesia.

    Elektif Sezaryen Ameliyatlarında Anestezi Yönteminin Preoperatif Anksiyete Düzeylerine Etkisi

    Amaç: Bu çalışmada; elektif sezaryen planlanan gebelerde anestezi yönteminin preoperatif anksiyete düzeylerine olan etkisi incelendi.Bu çalışmada; elektif sezaryen ameliyatı geçirecek gebelerde yaş, eğitim düzeyi, gebelik haftası, yaşayan çocuk sayısı gibi demografik özellikler ile anestezi tipinin preoperatif anksiyete düzeylerine olan etkisinin incelenmesi amaçlandı.Yöntemler: Dicle Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Anesteziyoloji ve Reanimasyon Anabilim Dalı'na 2011-2012 yılları arasında başvuran, elektif sezaryen operasyonu yapılacak Amerika Anesteziyoloji Cemiyeti (ASA) II, 18-45 yaş arası 100 gebe çalışmaya alındı. Bu gebeler her bir grupta 50 hasta olacak şekilde genel anestezi (GA) ve spinal anestezi (SA) grubu olarak iki gruba ayrıldı. Hastalar preoperatif değerlendirilip demografik verileri kaydedildikten sonra anksiyete değerlerini ölçmek için her bir hastaya STAI TX-1 formu dolduruldu. Bulgular: İki grup arasında yaş, gebelik haftası, gebelik sayısı, yaşayan çocuk sayısı ile eğitim durumları arasında anlamlı fark bulunmadı (p>0,05). Spinal anestezi grubunda ortalama anksiyete puanı Genel Anestezi grubuna göre anlamlı olarak yüksek bulundu (p<0,05). Sonuç: Spinal anestezi uygulanan obsteterik hastaların genel anestezi alan hastalara göre preoperatif dönemde anksiyete düzeylerinin yüksek olduğu saptandı. Bu nedenle spinal anestezi planlanan sezaryen operasyonlarında preoperatif anksiyeteye yönelik önlemlerin alınması gerektiği sonucuna varıldı.
