The aim of this study is to detect the antibiotic resistance of Citrobacter strains isolated from clinical specimens
between January 2004 and December 2006 as infection agents. 53 C.freundii, 9 C. braakii, 3 C.koseri and 8 C.youngae, totally
73 Citrobacter strains were isolated. When MIC values of isolates were taken into consideration altogether, rates of resistance
were as follows; 85 % to ampicillin, 63 % to piperacillin-tazobactam, 47 % to cefoxitin, 84 % to cefoxitin, 48 % to ceftazidime,
45 % to cefepime, 7 % to amikacin, 38 % to gentamicin, 55 % to aztreonam, 1 % to meropenem, 37 % to ciprofloxacin, 30 %
to levofloxacin and 48 % to cotrimoxazole. It is determined that the most efficient antibiotics are meropenem and amikacin,
followed by levofloxacin, ciprofloxacin and gentamicin, respectively.
