Following activation by NaOH, these chiral ruthenium complexes serve as catalyst precursors for the asymmetric transfer hydrogenation of acetophenone derivatives in iPrOH. The complexes 3 and 4 showed high catalytic activity but low selectivity in asymmetric transfer hydrogenation reactions.
