Özet

In comparison to fossil fuel that pollutes the lower layer of the atmosphere,wind energy is an alternative clean source of energy. Wind speed is theparameter with primary importance in designing and studying the windenergy conversion systems. In this study, the statistical analysis of theparameters of wind power density and wind speed distribution wasinvestigated using the wind speed data of Diyarbakır province between theyears 2014 and 2018 that were hourly measured by the General Directorateof Meteorology. Wind data are used to derive probability distributions, andtheir distributional parameters are determined. Two probability densityfunctions are suited to the measured probability distributions on a yearlybasis. The Weibull and the Rayleigh models are used to analyze the windenergy potential of the location. This modeling process was evaluatedaccording to R2, RMSE and 2 parameters. In conclusion, the values obtainedby the Weibull model gave better results than the values obtained by theRayleigh model in the wind data analysis of Diyarbakır province.
