Deashing of Sirnak Asphaltites by Froth Flotation Method

In this study, the possibility of cleaning Sirnak asphaltite by froth flotation was investigated. For this purpose, laboratory tests were carried out in order to investigate the effects of grinding time, pulp density, pH, collector amount, depressant amount, frother amount on the overall performance of the flotation process. The best conditions determined were as follows: pulp density: 5 %, pH: 8, collector amount: 0 g/t, depressant amount: 150 g/t and frother amount: 100 g/t. As a result, applying flotation method to Sirnak asphaltite; a clean asphaltite assaying 32,95 % ash with 76,61 % combustible yield was obtained.
