Özet
Purpose: The aim was to investigate whether aspirin use is a risk factor in Branch retinal vein occlusion in hypertensive and diabetic patients. Materials and Methods: The study included 30 hypertensive patients who were diagnosed branch retinal vein occlusion. Visual acuity, width of retinal hemorrhages, macular edema and retinal neovascularization were compared between aspirin using and non-using patients. Results: Of the 30 cases, 18 were using aspirin, 12 were not. Visual acuity less than 0.1 was observed in 10 of 18 aspirin using patients and 3 of 12 non-using patients (p = 0.09). There was no correlation between visual acuity and wide of retinal hemorrhage. Conclusion: The use of aspirin in patients with well controlled hypertension and diabetes may positively effect the visual outcome.
